First Friday

Brand new blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

It’s our final First Friday: The Daily Post won’t be publishing any more after May 31, 2018. Check out our farewell post for the why, how, and what, including where you can find ongoing advice and support. And be sure to connect with one another on your own blogs, so you can maintain the relationships that started here! Thanks so much for sharing all your stories with us.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Hello. I wish i can get some help on this. Two days ago I mistakenly clicked in my Referrers in the Stats that the youtube is spam. Since then I have no clue and view how many people come from there. How can I undo it? Thanks a lot.

  3. Hellowwww, everyone!

A last minute thing to make blogs look better! Something I notice on nearly every blog I see and that is that little icon at the left in the tab the site icon as they call it.

It standard is that W from WordPress, but, it is so easy to make it your own! Even if it is just a colour square! That shows to me that you put attention to your blog, to make it more your own. I always appreciate that (though I have to admit, I haven’t done it at one of my sites which I definitely should!)

To me commenting on content is difficult as that is very personal. Many personal stories or advice based on personal experiences and either people like and follow or not based on what you write. That’s why I always look a bit at the overall look and how it navigates.

Anyway, just some food for thought!

    1. I always look for the small stuff too! Still trying to figure everything out but it’s the little details that are the eye catchers. Shows dedication. I agree!!

      1. Thank you so much! I genuinely love reading other people’s blogs. Sounds cheesy, but helps channel my inner self! Thanks for the support! Means a lot!

  6. Bonjour tout le monde (Hi everybody). J’ai créé mon blog Tout l’opéra ou presque (All about opera (or almost)) le 30 Avril 2018. Il est consacré à l’univers de l’opéra au sens le plus large puisque j’y parlerai aussi de littérature, de cinéma, de bande-dessinée… à partir du moment où je pourrai faire un lien vers l’opéra. It is dedicated to the opera’s world.

      1. Your have some very pointed views….quite interesting. As for the aesthetics of your site it’s kind of gloomy. You might also want to consider an about page, that is usually the first thing people look for, they want to know who or at least what exactly it is your page is about…
