Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hey everyone! I’ve been doing some updating to my blog and could use some feedback. Looking for advice, or opinions, specifically dealing with my “About Me” section and my layout. Thanks in advance!

    1. Your blog is great! Something I noticed, was there were no pictures on your About tab, I think that would enhance it, especially since you talk about sharing pictures on it. Other then that, I really liked it and didn’t notice anything else that could use change

    2. I really liked your blog! Your about tab gave us the info we need when visiting your blog for the first time, agree with Queen Ann any pictures would enhance it but completely your choice!
Your layout is great too, lots of useful widgets and really easy to navigate through 🙂

    3. I really liked the changes!
It took a while for me to figure out how to add a feature image* with the posts on my home page so that you are not seeing just a list of Blog titles with excerpts, does your theme support this? 🙂
*I don’t know why it was easy! 🙂

      1. You know when you’re writing your post and there’s the column to the right where you tag etc.? There’s a box for featured image. Sad thing was, I did it for my first few posts then completely forgot and had to go back and add a featured image for up to forty-odd posts!!! The lovely tech support told me what to do :/

      1. It’s true!! After the initial withdrawal symptoms, it becomes obvious that 99% percent of social media adds nothing to my quality of life. I believe it was artist/author Austin Kleon who said, “Stop consuming, and start creating”… that sentiment changes everything when your put it into action. Thanks for reading, Stephen!! 🙂

    1. The visual appearance of your blog is congruent with the organized, rational style of your writing. I think you’re introspection provides A template by which others can relate to self inquiry.

  2. I appreciate your interest in considering a perspective which may differ from your own. I believe that if we were all collectively more conscientious about considering the world it from the standpoint of others, especially subjugated groups, the world would be a far kinder place.

    1. Great post!
Depression is real and one never know when it might hit them. I have tried to capture the feeling in my poem “Demons” and several others. Would love for you to read it.

  4. Hello everyone! My experience as a non-native living both in the US and in the UK created this flash fiction piece in my head one night. However, I’m not sure if the ending works or not. The first draft was much lighter and a bit funnier, but when I edited it, this came out. Something more serious, a bit darker. And even though I prefer this version, I’m still living in it, so I don’t know anything anymore. 🙂 Help me please. Does the ending work? Many thanks guys! https://noemiwrites.com/2018/05/03/the-elevator-flash-fiction/

      1. Thank you so much for you feedback Stephen! I really appreciate it. Phew! I’m glad it works. Maybe I should just put it aside for a while to see outside of my head. 🙂 Thanks again!

  6. Hey! I’m Genetic Learning and I write about genetics and benefits of GMOs. My goal is to teach people (and myself!) about genetics. However, I’ve been going through a rough spot and can’t come up with much. Any feedback, on any comment section of a post (though I will probably check out my suggestions post, so I would advise commenting there) would be greatly appreciated! Hope I see you on my site!

    1. Hi! I love sea creatures! But I was wondering why you don’t have an About me page. I think it would be great to showcase why you chose this topic and want people to learn more about marine life. Also, you could introduce these creatures geographically so people can search for them on your site. But this is just an idea.
