Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  4. Hello all!

I had my 7 year WordPress anniversary a few days ago! I’ve only been blogging consistently for about 3 years, but I went ahead and highlighted some of my favorite posts from the past.

Before that, I announced a decision I made that I’ve been thinking about for quite a long time.

And tomorrow I have a recap of what I read in April! If you’re looking for recommendations, check back!

Hope everyone has a happy Monday!

      1. Lol thanks! And congrats on four months! I just went and checked out your blog; I especially enjoyed your post about justice. My friend told me about that last week; I just cannot believe that people can be so cruel. Blows my mind. Anyway, the only thing I would suggest for your blog is a more descriptive about page! That’s the first place I go whenever I am looking at a new blog. I’ve found I don’t really have favorite *blogs*, but favorite *bloggers,* so a good about page always draws me in and makes me want to get to know the person via the blog. Other than that I’d just say keep it up! 🙂

    1. Have taken a quick peek. You have your short stories as scrolling reads, if you set to excerpts you will probably see your posts listed as expected.
I didn’t see anything in Poems or Other. Have you categorised articles as a poem or other?

      1. I can’t see anything that says Scrolling reads or anything I can change to ‘excerpts’. I don’t seem to have that option. I don’t know how to categorise my articles so they go to the right page I created for them. Everything is in Short stories. I think I am beyond hope. I probably need someone to show me.

      2. Nothing says scrolling reads – but to read you will be scrolling forever if you’ve not selected show excerpts rather than full posts in your settings. I did mine ages ago and I can’t think where to change it.
You can check your categories on each post. If it doesn’t show then you can edit multiple times if needed. When you are on a post you will see the edit feature pop up in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Hopefully if you haven’t selected a category and then do so when editing it will place each post in their rightful place. (I often think of categories as folders and I’m placing relevant articles into the correct folder.)

      1. Everyone, this is an awesome blog. Great posts but equally fabulous interaction and help for new bloggers. I wouldn’t have had such an easy start without help and I highly recommend this blog 😊

  5. Happy Monday to all the amazing bloggers!

Was a bit busy over the past month so couldn’t really post some poetry. Although I did manage to squeeze out some time and take up the 3 Days 3 Quotes Challenge and successfully complete it. Here’s the link to it.

    https://inaworldlikethismoaam.wordpress.com/category/uncategorized/

Do let me know of your views and opinions on the quotes I chose for this challenge. If anytime you’ve encountered something akin to the quotes posted feel free to share your experience on the blog.

    Have an amazing week ahead.

    1. I absolutely loved your Day 2 quote! The little thing make all the difference!! So many people get wrapped up in big gestures… As a child my Mom would leave little gifts on my bed randomly when I got home from school… that gesture didn’t receive 1000 likes but I never felt more loved in my entire life! It was her way of showing that she missed me while I was at school. ☀️ Thanks for sharing your blog!

      1. Maybe this is true for your country. 😉
In many countries, such as the US, Canada or the UK Father’s Day is celebrated on June 17th this year. But it’s also wildly celebrated on other days in other countires, like on May 10th in Germany
