Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hello everyone! I’m so excited to see the Pool open and full again!

I picked up painting and yoga again lately and have been fiddling with new formats to share the adventure through. I’d love any feedback or thoughts people could share on the attempt!

It is a little different than I usually do with a lot more images and informality.

Can’t wait to read everyone’s work and see what’s in the water today! 🙂

    1. Amazing poem. Very deep and very true. She wasn’t a victim, she was a survivor and thus 10 times more beautiful!
Do read my poem “Murder”, it is based along the same lines.

  3. Hi again! As some of you may already know, I’m living a double life here on WordPress. Here is a raw account of my daily struggle to survive and a tribute to all of those of facing similar health issues, a cadre of women I lovingly dub The double digit divas:

My PTSD has increased over the past couple of months as my weight has decreased. As each jutting bone becoming …

      1. Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. I don’t want to overdo it, but I also think I’ve started to grow a small second audience with the horror writing, and I want to keep them!

I’d love it if you’d hop on over to my blog for a bit and check out my posts. I’m an aspiring author and most of my posts center around writings, musings, and fun quotes and pictures:

So excited to see everyone out here with what they’ve written. It’s such a great way to meet new bloggers and to plunge into the deep corners of the WordPress community.

  5. Hi guys!

We all go through life together in different parts of the world, busy. We often forget to stop and just think. The art of just sitting and looking at nothing is now extinct.
Through my blog, I hope to open your eyes to see my world. As a teenager I have a lot of time to just sit and think. And in my venture I’ve seen allegories, lessons and amusing theories in the things around me. I hope to share with you how I see the world.

  6. Good evening WordPress family, I have a simple question. What according to you is an ideal blog, and how do you write so as the people who were once close to you, find you once again?

    Liked by 9 people

    1. According to me… blogging is done for self, not with an ulterior motive. There is no such thing as an ideal blog. Everyone has different styles of writing and different choices and interests when it comes to reading. As for your last question, well you can never say when your loved ones may find you again, or for what reason. It is better to just move on in life rather than dwelling in the past.

    2. Completely agree with the comment below. Everyone has their own niche! I write about my new journey in america, travelling & lifestyle but what i write about doesn’t interest everyone. I’m not sure i fully understand the last question as I haven’t really heard of people writing to reach out with people in particular only reaching out to their specific audience. Hope this helps.

  7. Some men become national heroes for superlative acts of bravery in service to their country. Others become heroes locally, because they stand up for the underdog when the establishment runs roughshod over them. Jimmy Hewitson was both.

In my latest blog, I hear his remarkable story from his grandson, John. It’s a story of courage, compassion and the redemptive power of the Cumbrian landscape – food for thought as I walk his old haunts.

  8. Hi fellow bloggers,

I recently created a post about the best day trips from Bangkok:
    https://197travelstamps.com/best-day-trips-from-bangkok/

I also added new plugins to my blog to increase my site speed and I added a table of content to longer posts. I am happy for any feedback on my blog and what could be better about it.

I also go started on Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/197travelstamps/

Right now I am still figuring out how it all works but I feel confident 🙂

  9. Hi, everyone! Below is a link to the latest installment in my series in which I eat at and review every taco place in Odessa, TX (more than 80!). I’ve been kind of slacking and haven’t been doing a vlog for each one, but I still use pics for every post. I’m still kind of shy with doing the vlogs, since it’s a new challenge for me. Let me know what you think! https://run4thetacos.wordpress.com/2018/04/16/tacopalooza-12-hacienda-vieja/

    1. A taco challenge! I’m following–and wish I was there in person to help you eat them! What fun; now I’m starving. Off to lunch! (Maybe you’d check out my site–might be up your English dept. alley!)?

  10. I’d love it if you could check my latest post and give me some feedback.

I wrote about Food and Mood, i.e. how the food we eat affects our mood.
I would love to hear what you think about it. Also, what kind of stuff would you like to see from me.

    1. Hello!

I like the layout of this post and the pictures are a nice touch. However, I would try to credit the sources where possible. Adding a bit more information about the food & eating habits which can help improve your mood would be a nice positive addition to this post. Talking about your own experiences also helps to engage the reader and helps them to relate to what you’re discussing.

I hope you find this helpful & keep posting!

  11. Hi everyone! I recently wrote a short story for a competition. The word count had to be under 2000 words, and the prompt was that the main character finds love at a music festival. I really struggled to keep under the word count, and I’m not sure if the story feels too rushed, or if there are ways I can improve character development, etc. If anyone has any feedback at all about the story, I would really appreciate hearing your thoughts!
