Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I’m reading from the beginning. Engaging story. It would be great (I don’t know if it’s possible) to have a button at the side like, “take me to the beginning.” Also, I would like to follow you, but can’t figure out how. Is it cuz I’m newbie floundering or because there isn’t the option?

      1. Thanks so much for the encouraging comment. I will have a look to see whether it is possible to incorporate the “take me to the beginning” functionality that you refer to.
There should be an option to follow me. It usually pops up at the right, bottom hand side of the blog; let me know if you still have trouble finding it.
And of course if you have any other feedback (positive, constructive or otherwise), I am all ears! Thanks again.

    1. I think you’ve made a good start. The topics are interesting & well written (though the bit on travel essentials is wordy). I’m not sure how to increase following but from the research I’ve done I think it matters when (day and time of day) you release your post.

    2. Interact with other bloggers. Read their posts, leave comments and respond to anyone who leaves you a message. Search for blogs similar to yours on Reader and get chatting. Good luck!

    1. The tattoo picture might be better in colour and cropped just to show it, your neck and hair (unless of course the flowers are grey!).
Have fun, and I hope you do as you look forward to doing.

    1. Hey Bubbly, i went to your blog, a few things, maybe have categories on your home menu and separate your blog articles, eg beauty diy, poetry. secondly, if you serious about making some money in the future, host your website and buy a domain. i also didn’t see any author details, like for example i am crazy and i love it ><. i started with a wordpress account (free) about last year i been a year now since i have my own domain via hosting ( its not easy as i got to manage everything on my own) but it picked up slowly slowly.

  4. So I forgot to tell you earlier that I’ve started a Facebook page over the weekend. I obviously will share my blog over time, I’ve added the homepage just for now, but also will add random pictures, something that may not need a write up! Feel free to like it . . . Now I’m going to hide behind the couch as I’m really nervous . . .

I’m hoping that I can link with my Instagram and other social media BUT whatever I tried yesterday didn’t work. So FB and insta may be compatible, but maybe insta and a FB page isn’t? And does anyone know if I can auto share blog posts to a FB page rather than my personal account?

    Thanks 🙂

  5. I am looking to connect with photographers and blogs. I’m a reader and enjoy most blogs. Give me an opinion on my blog. It is very basic, as I am a beginner. I started a photography challenge at the beginning of 2018. We will see if I am able to finish! Give my strangers some love. They have become like family.

  6. I can’t see my tagline on the home page. The box to show it is ticked in the customize the site section. I also can’t figure out how to add headings with drop down categories/as ways to search content. My template is Argent. Thanks!

  7. Hi everyone! I’ve started out my blog as a historical thriller with a target audience of young adults and above, and was hoping to get to know some of you better. Twelve chapters up so far, more to follow soon. I’m dropping my link here and would love some extra feedback on the site content and design. https://slumdogsoldier.wordpress.com.
What do you think about the layout? Is it easy to navigate? Where could I improve? Any and all feedback is welcome!
See you on your websites. Greetings from Devon! 🙂

    1. This is a hell of a good blog with a little bit of everything. I kind of think your mood in the moment may have an effect on your ratings, but we’re on the same page for the most part.

      1. Eventually I’ll get round to watching some of these again and maybe second time round I’ll be able to take a step away from the moment and reevaluate my ratings. Glad you enjoy the reviews though!
