Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I really like your writing style. I left comments on a couple of posts and followed you.

For reader engagement I find the best way to increase this is
      1. Be generous with your own comments. If you regularly leave thoughtful comments on other people’s blogs, you’ll find they start to do the same for you. ❤
      2. Have you thought about joining fb blogging groups? If you find a group that suits you, it can be a great way to interact with bloggers who are actually engaged with your content.

      1. Thank you so much for the comments! I have NOT thought about joining blogging groups, mostly because the thought never crossed my mind. It definitely would fill in my unfulfilled (wordplay!) desire to find community. It’s something I’ll have to look into.

      2. I found a couple of groups that I really like (one is the Big Up Your Blog group and the other is Female Travel Bloggers) but there are thousands…so you just have to look around until you find one with people that suit your humour/style. 😀

I often find smaller groups can be better as your voice will just get lost in huge groups!

    1. I love your blog, your photos always cheer me up! How do you get them to look so good? I use a pretty good camera and my images are high definition, but when I post them they all look grainy.

  1. Any genealogy lovers out there? I did not get many views on my St. Patrick’s day post, Irish Roots, about the potato famine and immigration. (Everyone must have been out drinking green beer!) Any clear-headed feedback would be welcome.

    1. Welcome! Do try to check out as many blogs as you can and start chatting to other bloggers, especially those in the genres you are creating. Good luck!

    1. I love all the pics from your trip pertaining to what you have written so far. Your writing takes the reader there and I really like that. Sounds like an amazing vacay! I also followed you. 🙂

  2. IT’S GOOD TO FORGET
-If we weren’t designed to be able to forget, I don’t think there’s gonna be a single sane rational person to walk the earth.-

This is what I get scrolling around the internet. Random thoughts at midnight preventing my dear sleep haha I hope this still makes sense despite my groggy mind.

    1. Great start! You might want to point out that your blog doesn’t contain ‘adult content’ as you don’t want to discourage people from following you.
