Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.
Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Hello, everyone!
I’ve been thinking about why I sometimes think of my emotions vs. my experience with mental illness in terms of compassion vs. punishment.
I’d love to get your feedback.

Exactly. Every time they talk about war crimes on News channels, it seems we are so far away from it when in fact it is the sad reality of many many people right now. This book brings it closer and makes it more personal by not just naming names, but also sharing the simpler, easier life from a time that is now just a memory.

I would like to share one of my blog posts. It was a short story written in response to an exercise to take a well known fairy tale and then write the story in a different perpective and setting. I have called this A Twisted Fairy Tale. I would welcome your thoughts, can you guess the fairy tale that I based it on? Did you like the twist?

Hello all!
My most recent post addressed the recent #WalkUp movement and how it was promoted in competition with the student walkouts last Wednesday. Why couldn’t they have been promoted together? I don’t see why they had to be in competition with each other.
If politics aren’t your thing, I posted Friday on ways to increase confidence in a new job. I find myself having to fake confidence sometimes and figured I’m not the only one!

Hi,
I took a look at your post. It was well structured, and although English isn’t your first language, you are beginning to get to grasps with it well. If I can help with some advice, I would say, first of all, to write in non-capitals, rather than CAPTITALS, because people actually find it easier to read (which is why street signs are always in lower case). Additionally, I would double check your grammatical affixes for tense and person agreement, as a number of them are missing. For now, going through your work with a fine tooth come will help, but long term, you need to read as much high quality written English as you can. This will help the language become automatic.
I really hope that helps, and I think it is wonderful you are writing a blog. It will be a great way to improve your writing skills. If you ever have a language question, I will be happy to answer it: language is of great interest to me 🙂

No problem at all!
First of all, apologies for my typo, the phrase is ‘fine tooth comb’; auto-correct was playing devils with me!
Mostly reading other written English is a good start. Follow blogs that you think are well written, and read a lot.
Secondly, keep writing.
Thirdly, just check through what you have written, perhaps using a translator for words you are unsure about.
Finally, you know that words in a sentence sometimes change if you are writing in past tense (write versus wrote, or pack versus packed) or a different person, (I write, she writes–notice the third person additional ‘s’ on ‘writes’), just check through you work to make sure these are all in the right places.

I identified with this as an introvert. Sometimes it seems that the society (speaking for US culture) is really biased for extroverts and introverts are thought of as weird for not wanting to continuously be in a noisy crowd of people dealing with everyone. Sometimes I just have to go hiking in the woods alone and if my family doesn’t believe that I need this, well too bad. I appreciate your need to express these feelings and I am right there with you.

I like it! My theme handles featured images in a similar way (Sela), although I tend not to use them.
Does the read more tag automatically get inserted after a certain number of characters? If not, you might like to try varying the amount of text and images shown on the home page. That would help break up the effect, get us more involved in the post to make us want to click and show a bit more of your photography.
