Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. Your content was great. I also found it easy to read, as you’ve done a good job breaking up paragraphs with eye-catching boldface font.

    1. Love the thought that you put into to create this post.
A part of me wants to say that I would have gotten more emotion from your writing if the lines were spaced apart instead in one paragraph.

      Thank you for sharing!

      1. Thanks for the appreciation.
However the format of my writing is such that gives me the leeway to condense my thoughts in one paragraph to make it intriguing for the reader by absorbing each sentence I write.

      2. Ah understand. Everyone writes differently 🙂 I think it’s important to have a reason for how you write —- your one paragraph idea definitely makes sense.

    1. Enjoyed your story telling method. From a different perspective, I wonder if there could be a more effective way to pull the reader out of the story being told within the story…. don’t know if that makes sense, lmk haha

  2. Hi. Last week I wrote a Blog post titled “How did it feel”.
    https://shetamittal.wordpress.com/2018/03/11/how-did-it-feel/

The intent was two fold: One, to be able to relive the moment of my wedding whenever I want it, beyond the ones that the camera could capture and Two, to encourage people to share their wedding stories. During my wedding planning, I read a lot about how to plan the decor, food, makeup etc, but nothing on what it feels like during those moments. Is it all fun, or are there moments of anxiousness, nervousness? Learnings on how to deal with those and have fun!

Its a long post and my first long post, so would love your feedback on where you felt the post wasn’t compelling enough to continue reading. Elements I could add / you would want know more about. Where can I cut the text?

PS: Wait for the pictures to download 🙂

    Thank you so much!

  3. Hello, this is my first time blogging and I’m looking for some feedback. I am writing about my experience in Jiu jitsu and my page is pretty plain so far. Any pointers or feedback would be great. Thank you in advance.

    1. Hi there! Relevant pictures will help brighten your page, this could be something as simple as the training room you use.
Shorter paragraphs help when reading on devices as readers are put off – by a wall of words – I’m working on this one, my earlier (academic) posts have long paragraphs, too.
An About page will help tell others a little more about you.
      Hope this helps 🙂

  4. Hey guys ~ I’ve been writing everyday for about 56 days now. Today’s post will be my 57th article posted. It’s been an amazing journey of learning about myself and trying to figure the shape of this world.

Yesterday I wrote an article about “mood setting” and how our environment and mentality can affect our moods so easily. Just wanted to share the post with you guys, and can’t wait to hear some feedback in the comments.

    Day 56: Feeling Completely

    Thank you in advance!
