Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Note: Starting this week, each Community Pool post will be open for two days. Comments will then be closed until we publish the next Community Pool. Enjoy the swim!

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. My blog is full of abstract and surreal articles and poetry(9 in total), but I have no idea where I’m heading with my blog, can someone guide me or at least review my blog as an critique.

  2. Hello fellow bloggers!
My Monday was hella boring, hope you all have a better one. To add on to it, I’ve been binging on snacks, chocolates and junk food all week. It feels so satisfying.
So my latest post is about gym routines and the god gifted day of rest. Here’s the link:

      1. First of all, thank you so much! I have others like this- convey and divergence… check them out too if you want to.
Secondly, I just read your post and couldn’t help but feel taken to it, because yes, befores and afters are all we see on social media platforms, not the effort and the dedication that goes behind it, to make that resolution come true. Very nice writing, keep it up!

  3. Hey everyone! I’ve just started a new series about how to actually cope with the honest side of university life!

In my latest post, I talk about that feeling when you want nothing more in the world than to drop out of university (or anything that you’ve just started for that matter) and how to handle that feeling!

Any follows will be returned and I hope to see you all over there! Bye 🙂

  4. Why, hello to all my wonderful imaginary friends! My name is CJ and I just opened this blog about a month ago to share half-baked short stories and experimental writings.
Please, pop over and take a peek! I just posted the second half of the first chapter of an experiment in First Person Present Tense!
    Feedback would be greatly appreciated!
I am looking forward to browsing everyone else’s blogs after work today!
    Sincerely,
The Author of my own existence,

      1. Gasp!
I am so sorry. I assumed clicking my name would go to my blog! I am very new to the world of Pressed Words!

      1. CJ, I visited your blog and left some likes & comments. When you visit the Community Pool in the future, you should leave the URL for one or two specific posts for which you’re seeking feedback rather than just the URL to your Blog.

Take care, be well, and happy blogging!

But if there’s something particular you’re waiting for and it still hasn’t come through, I’ve got a post you might find helpful – https://yourbeautifuljourney.wordpress.com/2018/03/03/be-patient-not-fearful/. And here’s a more recent one, which suggests a way to find meaning in life –

    1. Hey, I’ve just checked out your blog and from what I can see it has a minimal yet colourful look to it, it’s easy to navigate and read your content. You have a short yet snappy About Me page which again is awesome for your blog and attracting new followers.
In terms of making the different posts, to make it a little more easier to navigate, I’d recommend adding a few categories to the top bar so readers can select what type of posts they’d like to read.
Another suggestion would be to add a blue Follow Button widget, this makes it easier for readers to follow your blog, which I definitely will be doing!!
In general, your writing is captivating and informative, all in one go which makes your personal and lifestyle posts and blog as a whole, really interesting to read.

      I hope this was useful!!

      1. Thank you for your kind words! I also enjoyed your post, especially the point you made at the very end – that we and only we should decide what’s best for ourselves, not anyone else! 100% agree on this

      1. I’m happy to hear that, and you’re certainly welcome to follow! Try going to the homepage – yourbeautifuljourney.wordpress.com and scrolling just a little on the header image – you should see the “Follow” button in the bottom right corner, and it’s in the same position on the Blog page also. Welcome into our community! 🙂

  6. Hey folks!

so, may I introduce to you, my blog! I am in the business of writing short stories, where I aim to post one or two pieces of writing per week!

Currently, I am in the process of writing a series of shorter horror inspired stories that build together into one larger narrative.

I would really appreciate it if any one of you wonderful people would be so kind as to leave some feedback, either relating to what I have written or the blog’s layout!
