Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Note: Starting this week, each Community Pool post will be open for two days. Comments will then be closed until we publish the next Community Pool. Enjoy the swim!

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. Hi Cara, you have a wonderful writing style. I think your blog could benefit from an About Me type of page. I couldnt help but wonder more about your story upon reading a few of your posts, and I think it’d allow readers some insight into you as an author as well. It doesnt need to be detailed, just available. Best of luck!

      1. First because is my degree and masters and second because most tourists don’t care about pollution or animal care. So I want to raise awareness amongst us all, cause at some point we are all going to be tourists.. and what a better place to start if not working in tourism?

  1. Hello! I am a very new blogger. If you have time I would love for you to check out my blog movingtotheforward.com
If you have any comments or feedback I’d appreciate it. I’m learning about all of this on my own so I’m feeling a little lost but a lot of times that’s how we learn, working through it all. Thank you for your time!!

    1. That was really interesting! I don’t know anything about that area so I’m glad I feel I know a little more now. I enjoyed your details on how the trip personally affected you as it made it more relatable 🙂 I maybe would have liked more detail about what you did and where you stayed but I guess since it wasn’t a recent trip it would be hard to remember all the details. Overall very good! 🙂

      1. Thank you so so much! Yes I totally agree with you I would have loved to give a list of restaurants (cause food is life lol), but I couldn’t remember. The next one will for sure have restaurants!

  3. Hello! I’m Mary, it’s nice to meet you all. I’m an indie author and I’ve been blogging for a few months now. I mostly post writing tips and my thoughts on various aspects of writing and being a writer. I’ve been trying to develop my style as a writer into one that suits a blog and I’d be grateful for any feedback, but especially on my style. My latest post is about the worst trait for an aspiring author and I hope you will enjoy it so let me know what you think

  4. Hey if anyone could check out our blog http://www.theoakdale.com I’d appreciate it. Recently I’ve been trying to get more comments and conversation started with my posts on here and social media but I’m not sure I’m going about it correctly or what. We are still young but I want to know early on. Be warned our posts are mostly satire and sports related. We try and cover a large scope.

  6. Another entry for onehundredstrangers. Thank you for taking the time to read about my strangers and my photographs. I get more attached to the strangers, as I write about our encounters. I would love feedback from other bloggers on what I can do better to make my site more attractive to readers and from photographers about my photographs. #photograhy #portraits #hdrportraitphotography #draganstyle #helpasistaout

    1. I love your photographs. For me the words tend to distract from your oh so powerful images. I urge you to consider précis the prose and make the photos bigger, after all a picture paints a thousand words!

  7. She’s Blended

I wrote a very small blurb about being a mom in a blended family! I’m a child of a blended family and now I’m a parent in one. It’s a very small blurb but I’m looking for any feedback on if there are any better ways to connect to an audience!!!! Thanks in advance!!!

  8. Hey friends! My blog focuses a lot on the relationship between the church and the world, as well as politics (and really whatever else I feel like writing about ha). This is my latest post about the hypocrisy of the church. I’d love feedback on writing style, layout, and anything else blog related, but more than anything I really want to hear your thoughts on this topic (both Christians and non-Christians). Thanks everyone!
