Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Note: Starting this week, each Community Pool post will be open for two days. Comments will then be closed until we publish the next Community Pool. Enjoy the swim!

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hi everyone. This is a bit of flashback. Just yesterday I published a post with photos from the New Year’s fireworks show in Prague.

    Fireworks display

I really like fireworks displays so if you published a similar post, please share it with us in comments (here or on my blog).

  2. I think that this is a great idea. I’m the type of person that just can’t watch anything. It has to be meaningful, inspiring and can motivate me. With this blog, I can now read about the movie and check out the reviews! Thanks so much for your share and I will be following!

    1. Very nice! My only point of constructive feedback is to delete the default post “My First Blog Post” and the Text Widget on the right hand side of the page. Since these are default items, they don’t really add to your website in any way. Good luck!

    1. Wow, you’ve posted consistently on your blog for (almost) a year! Great work! I’ve only just started, so I hope I can follow you in your path of consistency 🙂

    1. Hi there! You have some great travel advice on your blog! I think it’d be a nice improvement if you showcased your blog posts on your homepage and/or moved the Blog link in your menu to the left hand side. Your blog is the main component of your website, but it seems a little hidden when there’s only one link at the end of your menu that provides readers access to it. Share your great work right off the bat by integrating it into the home page! Best of luck!

    1. Wonderful website!! I love that, as a nurse, you are sharing your knowledge in such a positive way. We need to keep the general public properly informed about health practices and you are helping to make that happen! One piece of feedback I have is that on your Shop front, I highly recommend retaking each photo of the Wall Decor items so that they all have the same background in a well-lit room. You want to create a “theme” of consistency among the photos so that viewers aren’t distracted by a coach, a rotated photo, or improper lighting. For example, take photos of the wall decor while they are hanging on a wall and make sure the photo is upright. Best of luck!

      1. Thank you so much! Haha well Christ is truly my main source of life and motivation ❤️ During most of my schooling years, I suffered with so much anxiety and depression. Things were not always so easy, and now I can confidently say I am at a place of contentment. Every day is a work in progress, and honestly I can’t help but to share what I have learned and continue to learn with others 😊
