Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. As a rule of thumb for posts like this, I’d post links to studies and solid evidence that show the links from the ingredients to harmful effects. That will make your piece more reputable and less like a sales pitch. It’s great to find a product you believe in and spread it, but you want to be sure not to seem biased. Keep up your search for healthier products, and don’t be afraid to post reviews of things you find helpful or particularly good at what they advertise.
      Happy searching!

    1. This link doesn’t bring readers to a post. It brings logged in users to a page to make a new post of their own instead.

    1. The dish looks wonderful! The photos are a great addition to bring skeptical readers in, perhaps those who are nervous about trying the recipe or those who rely on visuals to gauge their own finished product.
      Keep up the good work!

      1. Thank you so much. That was great feedback on the recipe and the photos. I have often wondered if I should stick to just one photo per blog post. But have never really got myself to doing it since I know many of us are more visual.
This really helps and confirms my belief.

  1. For anyone interested, I’ve opened up writing/editing commissions! My blog and its plethora of pieces serve as a portfolio of sorts as I try to start and build up a career doing what I love. For more information, see the link:

Feel free to stop by the blog otherwise and take a look at my work. I’ve passed the 600 post mark, so there’s plenty for everyone!
    Happy reading and writing!

    1. I was intrigued until I saw your URL. If it does contain explicit material, could you flag this up? There are young people who use this forum.

      1. I do pop the “not safe for work” thing in as a warning to readers. Weirdly it’s not anything pornpgraphic but more of a self analysis of the situations. The slugs are just edited to increase the chances someone will stumble upon my blog when searching those terms (anyone actually looking for cheeky videos will be sorely disappointed!)

    2. Hello,

While I appreciate that you added a “NSFW” warning to your comment, I wanted to clarify that the Community Pool invites comments and links that are strictly SFW. That doesn’t mean you can’t share links to posts on adult topics — people blog about a variety of topics, including difficult experiences with health, abuse, and other issues. It’s a fine line, but in order to keep this as open and inclusive a forum as possible, we ask that people use their best judgment, and refrain from sharing anything that could reasonably be considered NSFW.

      Thank you for your cooperation!

    1. Your photos are beautiful! I would have liked to see a Sunset on the Niagara River in a bigger size. I know your photos speak for you, but it would be good to see an About page, it really can encourage people to follow you.

    1. you have some amazing posts! I guess you have set an image as a logo(that rectangular image that is above your profile pic), removing it may make the blog cleaner. And updating your about page will also help 🙂
      Content wise it’s awesome!

    1. It’s a good post about discrimination, but, just my opinion, I think you need to improve your grammar. I find the sentences hard to understand.
However, the topic you’ve written about is pretty cool and I hope you keep up the good work. 🙂

    2. Can you include a link? I can usually link through from people’s profile pics if they don’t include a link, but for some reason I can’t with yours.

    3. Great job – your background shines through! The site did take a bit longer than usual to load – it might be my connection is playing up, but you might also like to check images sizes etc.
When Jane mentioned about the first link not working, it just needed the start bit adding to make it clickable. The second version works great.
