Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.
Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Hey guys!
So today I’m sharing with you all a post which displays a choice few amongst the many photographs I have clicked with my DSLR over the years.
But that’s not all! The pictures have been woven into a short story, putting forward the ideation of the impact that photographs are so much more than just an image. They tell you… A story.
So if you like nature photography or short stories, please pay a visit! I’m looking forward to all sorts of feedback. And of course repaying the debt by doing the same.
Hope to see you at my blog then! 🙂

Thanks a million! 🙂 I’m not on Instagram right now, but I’ll surely bear that in mind if I ever open an account there! Sorry, I’m pretty Neanderthal when it comes to the technical aspects so I really didn’t get that ‘place holder text’ part…. Help me out there!

I think a similar issues were brought up against Mark Twain for his use of the n word. (Take that with a grain of salt though; I could be remembering wrong). Either way, you bring up a valid point. While slurs are disgusting, they might also be necessary for writing realistic fiction that portrays real evil in the world. I personally wouldn’t put them in my own writing, but I can sympathize with your argument. I think sometimes being angry at media is okay and that the offensive material isn’t inherently evil just because it made us angry; there are things that should absolutely offend us and absolutely get a negative reaction out of us. Anger isn’t always bad. Context is important.

Firstly, it’s good to share the URL of the post you’d like us to read. It’s nice to have a brief explanation of it too before we click and it may tempt others to your blog that otherwise would not check it out. And then share the love and read and comment on a few other blogs. 🙂
Secondly, you can add your social media links to your blog depending on your social followers you can gain a lot of traction with that. Depending on your theme you may find a group on Facebook that you share in. Sometimes Facebook works for me. My Twitter feed is rubbish to be honest, but then it’s mostly anonymous. I’ve just started Reddit and I’m really a rookie with it but have had a few views.
Thirdly, use tags and categories up to a max of 15 combined and these help search engines find your posts. Think about titles, I’ve a few now that are regularly picked up by search engines 3-4 times a week and I’m convinced that I’ve inadvertently chosen the search terms that people use for my title.
Also, your site does look a little new still as you have an unused text widget on your Home page and your About page has yet to be filled in and also has a text widget. Spend a few minutes in the customiser and your blog will be really appealing.
I can’t really comment much on the poetry (I’m not so hot with that) but from what I saw it looks great!
Hope this helps. 🙂

Ruby such great tips. Too often I see bloggers literally begging for their blogs to be read and not interacting with other bloggers. The great majority of my followers are from the WP community. I post my blogs to the FB page but for the most part they are ignored there. I belong to other groups and I do get support there and I genuinely share the live as well.
LikeLiked by 4 people
This was such a great help! Thankyou so much. But as you see I don’t know much how this works, I will be highly obliged if you tell me how to use tags and categories.
And I’m glad you took time to help me out and appreciated my work.
LikeLiked by 1 person
You’d probably find a WordPress article to explain it better than I could!
Categories denote the topic your article is about (e.g. Nineteenth Century) so all my articles about the 19C go into that category (think folder!). Then, for example if the article is about royalty I’ll tag keywords specifically to do with that article and this helps search engines find your work – so ‘Royalty’, ‘Queen Victoria, ‘Prince Albert’ may be my chosen tags.

Hello all! I wrote this post about facing our hardest times – those seasons that feel like they’re trying to kill us – and wondering if the hope that we have clung to in less trying times is going to be enough to sustain us in our darkest moments. After all, if my hope is not tough enough for my toughest times, then I believe that I need to do some reevaluating. I’d love to hear your thoughts about this issue/my post. Thanks, and happy swimming!

I relate to much of what you see here, especially about the ever changing nature of chronic pain. This post reminded me of one I wrote some time ago. I would love to get your feedback and thoughts:
“How are you feeling?” Knitted brows narrow with what is probably genuine concern, but feels like pity. Exhausted. Hysterical. In pain all the time. …
