First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Hello everyone!
I am just about finished with my first week blogging and I’m so excited about it! This community is amazing 😊 Little background my blog: I’m a 25 year old Canadian army wife and beauty blogger.
Since I’m so new I would appreciate any critiques on my first few posts. I’m definitely still getting the hang of this! 😊

  2. Hi everyone! I started my blog almost a month ago and have so enjoyed having this space to write and share some of my life experiences. I have had several people over the past few years encourage me to blog, but it took me awhile to find the courage. I have tried to write once a week, and so far have done it, but that is probably my biggest worry…running out of things to write about. Any advice, insight is appreciated! Here’s the link to my first blog post! Thanks!

  4. Hey Krista,
I just wrote a letter that took just about everything in me to complete; and there’s nothing that would mean more, than for you all over at WordPress, to read it.
It’s in light of the recent #MeToo movement; and how one of the revelations hit too close to home.
I hope you like it; I really do.
    All the love. ❤

    A Letter to Shamir Reuben.

  5. India is known for being chaotic and in some places, it IS chaotic. But it also has a solution to its chaos – Places with so much nature and calmness that you will forget that you are in the 2nd most populated country in the world!

So here are some of the quietest and calmest places in India where you can EASILY practise yoga, meditation, or just RELAX and chill.

Still new to this blog world. Would really appreciate it if you guys could check it out 🙂

Also, I am struggling with knowing how I can post a blog under my title of ” eats” , as somehow it keeps appearing under my ” baked ” section instead and I just cant figure it out. Please help :’)

    1. I had a similar issue the other day. It’s to do with how your ‘Eats’ page is set up. It is probably based on a tag or category it is setup with. When you make a new post, you need to select the tag or category that makes your post under Eats. Well, I think so anyway.

      1. Hey, thank you for that. Hmm, it’s so frustrating when it just isn’t set up as how I want it to be. I will try and give that ago , and see if it makes any changes. Thanks for trying to help though! 🙂

  7. Can I share my link if it’s been a little over a month. I’ve shared it before once but the thing is I started my blog all over again, so now it’s different.

    1. Hi! Welcome to book blogging – I hope you’ll find us a friendly bunch 🙂 with your background in Instagram and Goodreads you’ll fit right in. Just a quick note – the link you posted above is to the WordPress post-writing page, rather than a live link to your blog. A live link will have your blog name at the start, like this: https://tenthousandbookreviews.wordpress.com/

Best of luck with your blog 🙂
