Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Good morning everyone! I just started posting on my blog last week and I am currently doing a little series called Sounds Of Writing. I want to do posts that have themes so these will be the first ones. Im not sure what I should do once this series is over, but in the meantime, I hope you all will check out my blog camilleislost.wordpress.com. Let me know what you think about Sounds Of Writing. Thank you!

  2. Hello,

I’m wondering if any one can offer some help. I’ve seen it already on a few blogs, how do I get different posts to appear on different pages on my blog? http://www.knackereddad.com

For example, I want to have two additional pages, each dedicated to a blog category, like Lifestyle and Humour. I have an additional page at the moment called ‘Newbies Guide To Blogging’, but I have had to manually enter those the links in & it’s strictly speaking not an actual blog post? If that makes sense?

I’m wondering if it is due to the theme I have?

Or does this particular setup only work if I upgrade my blog to a premium membership level on WordPress?

    Thanks for reading!

    1. Hi knackered dad, Go to customize your blog, either click the pencil next to the title bar where you want to put on more titles, click add items where it should already say home and about etc, choose your category that you have written about, to the right it will have a drop down menu saying page, click that and change it to category. Hope that makes some sort of sense!

    1. Loved and laughed at every line of this! It’s genuinely so, so well-written and no kidding, I dream about blue Lays sometimes and may or may not have had several fantasies about them. Keep it going, all the love 😊

  5. Good day to my fellow bloggers!

I would love to hear your feedback regarding my blog whether the theme needs improving or the topic needs changing or the content that I write need to be more specific or not too confusing. I really look forward to improving my blog and becoming a platform whereby everyone is invited wholeheartedly to exchange opinions, be it positive, neutral or negative (afterall, it’s your own thoughts and sayings) regarding certain issues that I put forward. I mean, that is what we do as bloggers, to build a community to listen to others and voice our thoughts out loud.

All in all, I would love to hear from you and thank you for stopping by my blog!

    1. I think the overall layout of your blog was really nice, but the light blue background was kind of distracting, is there a way to change it to white? I think that would make your blog look much more elegant.

      1. Thank you for the advice about the background colour. Will definitely change it for the better of the community. I appreciate your feedback and your help in improving my blog! Thanks!

    2. Left you a comment. I like your layout and I would advise to continue writing what’s on your mind and see what is popular and gets the most feedback it may not be your favorite topic. You need to balance that. All the best.

      1. Thank you for your advice! Will definitely strive to improve in writing and to balance it out. Thanks for your help in improving my blog!

      2. You’re welcome. I’m sure you’d narrow down a niche. When I started out I wanted to write about veganism, lifestyle, expatting, Island living, Caribbean travel, but I have stuck to travel so far because I do that a lot and I have not run out topics as yet. Lol.

      3. Nice to hear that you found your niche! But I’m stuck on things more towards about language, cognition and philosophy or just little thoughts on our everyday mind. Feels like might be too broad to write but that’s what I am passionate to write and to share my thought about it, even though it may not be well written or well received. Still, thanks a lot and really glad to meet you! ☺

    1. Hi!
This was a great post! While reading it, I could feel myself wanting to go for a microcation! Also, I wanted to ask if ‘microcation’ is an actual word or is it your own creation?

      Liked by 3 people

      1. It is not an actual word. Looked in the Dictionary and not there. However, it is a hashtag that has been popular on Twitter in the past. Thanks for reading.

    1. The only thing I’d suggest is you make use of the right hand side of your blog, use to show recent posts, blogs you follow or something else you want to share with your followers, but be sure to use the space you have!

      1. You’re absolutely right! And, I would love to use that space. However, the theme I use doesn’t enable me to do so…maybe, if ever decide to change it then, I can arrange it using all the space!

  7. Hello Community!
Today’s post is something that I learned from a friend a few months ago. Life isn’t going stop and wait around for you to do something, you have to go out and do whatever the heck you envision and let life be a part of it. That being said, I spontaneously booked a flight to go to the UK for a week. What I’ll do there? I’ll figure it out when I get there!
    Enjoy!

    1. Love it! That is so very cool; and my obsession with Netflix guided me to a show called Master of None, in which the dude just decides to go to Italy in the middle of his life to learn the art of pasta without ANY plans at all. And man, I wish I had the courage to pull off something like y’all. Someday, eh? Your blog’s beautiful. Keep it going, all the love 😊

  9. Hi Everyone. Happy Week ahead. I am happy to have celebrated the first anniversary of my blog on February 3. I have 106 followers most of whom are WP followers. The have done 60 posts. Yaaay. Thank you so much for your support. For those who are concerned about low readership and follower numbers don’t despair. It will come in due course. Just persevere and engage. Here’s the link to my latest. Please enjoy. It’s not about Carnival which many of you may be celebrating next week. It’s about Street Art

  10. Hello,
I started my blog because I got scared of the fact everyone’s going to uni and starting their lives whilst i’m here on a gap year not knowing what I want to do. I thought I love to write and read so why not start a blog and so I got the courage too. I don’t know where this will go but im writing about travel, health and food so if you’re willing to give it a read.
I’d love that and to hear what people think. Hope you’re having a lovely day.
