Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.
Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Morning WP community poolers! 😀
This is my first splash in the WP pool for 2018! I just got home from New Zealand and spent a couple of weeks wandering through some stunning scenery. I’d like to share my first epic walk of our trip – a hike through Mordor*! https://www.awalkandalark.com/new-zealand-tramps-tongariro-crossing/
*Ehem…it’s not really Mordor…it’s just the place they filmed it for Lord of the Rings.
As always I am keen to hear your thoughts, and comments are like candy to me. 😉

Marc and I were the same when we first started walking. It seems the more you wander, the more your body can cope with walking! 😉

We dreaded our walk – we were surprised at how easy it was – I was convinced it was muscle memory having walked the same walk 15 months ago. 🙂

Great advice! Especially the “get enough sleep” tip. The chores can wait–use naptime to take a nap, yourself. Wish I would have done that when my kids were little. I would have been a lot happier!

Hi, Stefanie! I just checked out your blog and read your post about lavender oil. I don’t use oils, so I think my assessment will be valuable to you: it was a very easy, quick read that didn’t make me feel like an outsider of the oil-using community. It’s good (non-threatening/non-sales-pitchy, etc) articles/blogs like this that help inform those of us on the outside of something, getting us more comfortable with the idea of trying a new product. So, well done!
I did notice, though, that your blog theme makes your site look lop-sided. There’s nothing (widgets, etc.) filling the right side of the screen. If you can’t think of anything to put there, then you might want to find another theme that won’t leave you space looking so incomplete.
LikeLiked by 3 people
That was great feedback. I have to agree with all of the above.

I’d agree with everything here. Your blog is your space to promote what you want so fill as much of it as possible, fill up that right hand side!

Hi, One True. The only thing I might suggest is that your site include a permanent statement about your purpose in reviewing things, and that lays out clearly that you are not advertising products or receiving anything from the manufacturers. You say it here and there, but we are in such an advertising-crazy time that you need, I think, to differentiate your blog as performing a service. It might be good to limit your reviews to certain kinds of products or products for a specific audience rather than a broad range. just some thoughts. Good luck!

Browse through all the themes. They have helpful descriptions. While I was searching for mine, I remember there WAS one specifically for wedding planning, but I don’t remember the name. Honestly, I feel like you can make a lot of themes suit YOUR needs. They are customizable.

Don’t know how much you should weight my opinion(I follow a very small number of blogs),but I found your page a bit overwhelming, a lot is going on there. I’d suggest that you remove repeated or low utility widgets.
For example, there is an Instagram plug at the top, at the bottom and after each post.
Maybe also set a static page.
But overall, it’s obvious that you’ve put a lot of thought and effort on your blog, Congratulations!

I actually think your blog is pretty. Colorful and clean. Your passion for photography is obvious. One thing I didn’t like is that the page I landed on showed me the featured post “The Twin cities”, but the white box with the title completely covers your (?) face. While it wouldn’t matter all that much on a landscape image, it looks just weird when it covers a face, which was obviously supposed to be a feature. Does this make sense?
LikeLiked by 2 people
Thank you! I actually didn’t even realize that because the featured content showed up differently on my phone. I changed it, so thank you for pointing that out to me 🙂
