Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Check out my latest entry about the people who are trying to tell me that pornography addiction isn’t an addiction…never thought I’d hear that doing publicity for my book. You can also see how that whole process is going. Feedback always encouraged, and don’t just be the person who clicks ‘like’ here hoping I’ll go look at your blog. You’ll have to like the actual post for me to make that journey. https://recoveringpornaddict.com/2018/01/15/is-porn-addiction-a-real-addiction-duh/

    1. Hi, I read your post with real interest (I’ve worked with people with addictions and seen friends struggle ). As a Brit, I also found it fascinating – and saddening – to read of the extra difficulties caused by the health insurance system and the boxes you have to tick to be granted treatments 😦 Really sorry I haven’t liked and commented there – I tried but my app demanded I log in first then wouldn’t let me! (I’m sure I’m already logged in?) I’m new to blogging so apologies but I enjoyed your post, thankyou for the insight. And yes, it is unquestionably a real addiction, I’m genuinely surprised that that’s even a point of contention! (Nb comment from Tiffany not Tony)

    1. Comments are a bit different from likes and views. I haven’t been on Word Press that long myself, but in my experience the best way to get comments is to interact on the platform (like you’re doing now in community pool) and encourage your readers to respond. For example, I do movie reviews on my page and I always make sure to ask what people thought about what I’m reviewing. Sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesn’t. You just have to stay active and keep up with social media. It takes time. Hope that helps.

    1. Try resubmitting a direct external link to your posts. You’ve linked to your personal post viewer, which requires your login.

  2. Happy Monday everyone! My last post talks about the blessing of friendship, and how my friends supported me in a difficult time. Friendship really is such a help in difficult times! I also wrote about my thoughts on what it is to be a friend, and how we can try to be better friends. I’d appreciate hearing your thoughts about the post. Thank you!

    1. I like how your name works so well with your URL! You’re doing great blogging so far! I definitely related to your post there as I too feel I am average at just about everything, and I’m growing to accept that and work with that.

    1. I read this earlier today and loved it! Didn’t get a chance to leave a comment…. I’ve wanted to get in to bullet journaling for a while now; yours seems to be one of the easier ways to manage than some other places I’ve noticed. I hope you continue to have a blast with it! 😁

  3. Hello everyone and Happy Monday 😀

I was wondering about what to post and I thought I should just let my mind flow…so this is what the end result was…I would love some feedback on whether or not you think I should write more such posts in this style?

So, if you are divorced or know anyone who is, please feel free to comment/share

Thank you!!! Have a happy week!

    Xx

  4. Hey everyone, I just revived my four year old photoblog a few weeks ago and made a few changes regarding the theme and layout but I’m not quite happy with it yet. Any criticism regarding the theme, navigation of my page and style of my photography is therefore more than welcome!

    1. I’m a very lay person when it comes to photography but I find the watermark of the camera hides too much of the actual photo. Most of the photos I post on social media are taken with my iPad or iPhone. I have a DLSR sand need to make use of it.

    1. Stunning! The majority of blogs let you post a direct message. A few (like yours) asks for name, email, website. I am personally put off from commenting when I come across these, which is a shame as you’re missing out on some great feedback from the blogging community.

  5. Hello! I love to write about nature, may that be in a poetic or story-telling manner. Here are two of my latest posts after returning from the Everest Base Camp Trek. Would love your feedback. For my fellow nature enthusiasts, comment below so I can check out your blog as well!
