Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Happy new year! Welcome to the first 2018 edition of the Community Pool. Let’s keep this forum a welcoming, friendly, and productive space — thank you for reading (or re-reading) and respecting our guidelines below. Here’s to another fantastic year of blogging and online camaraderie.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. hey pals! so i’m actually doing something a lil scary- thinking about writing a BOOK! a book of poems and things like that. sort of in the style of Milk & Honey, if you’re familiar with that. Anywho, I posted a little excerpt from it on my blog and I’d appreciate it if you’d let me know what you think! And as always, I return the favor. Thanks :))))

  2. I have recently come across examples of young women with disabilities harboring shockingly “disabled” views of themselves. Though I strive to recognize privilege in many forms in my life, I don’t often include my self image among them. #Inclusion has multi-faceted implications for a broad population. Even you.

  3. Hi everyone. I’ve been blogging since last year but went off the map after being diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. I’d love for some of you to have a look through.
My blog is aimed at educating people, women in particular to be emotionally wealthy through the use of positive psychology

  4. Ta da! I am pleased to share with you this unique illustration of my writing. I had the opportunity to collaborate with an amazing graphic artist who dazzled me with this multi media interpretation of my writing. Please let me know what you think!

  5. Hey all, I need some advice. I currently have two blogs – one is for poetry and the other is for lesson plan ideas/things that happen at the school I work at. I recently have wanted to start writing more about everyday life thoughts and happenings. I have posted in a while on either of my blogs, but I would really like the keep the poetry one just for poetry. I thought about converting the classroom blog into more of an everyday blog, but I’m not sure I like the idea of totally switching gears on that one either. Should I start a third blog?? Or should I switch over the classroom one? Thoughts? Similar experience? Thanks in advance 🙂

  6. Hello, and Happy New Year bloggers! I wanted to share my most recent post about my very first year of blogging. I started my blog at the beginning of 2017 with zero experience, plans, or expectations. It quickly became a bit of an obsession, and I’ve gone through some emotional ups and downs in my first year. I’m curious, what have everyone else’s experiences been after their first full year of blogging?
