First Friday comments closed early this week, so the moderators can take some time to enjoy the end of year holidays. We’ll be back the first week in January — see you then!
Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.
Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.
We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:
- We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
- When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
- Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
- Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
- To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

Meher, can you tell me how to add hashtags on the blog??
LikeLiked by 2 people
Yes, sure. When you create a new post, go to post settings. There you’ll see a field called ‘Tags’. You can add the tag(s) by typing the tag word(s) in the ‘Tag’ field.
When you publish the post, the tag word(s) will appear with hashtags.
Hope this helps!

Howdy! Thanks for being so supportive of the new bloggers here — I know they appreciate it, and so do I.
In future weeks, we’d appreciate it if you didn’t ask bloggers to reply to you specifically: the whole point of this post is for people to share links, and when you (and others) ask folks to reply to you, we end up with a big, kinda messy comment section in which people are leaving the same link multiple times. Saying a general hello and then visiting the links people come here to leave anyway would help a lot in making sure that these threads are manageable and that everyone gets some support. Thanks in advance!

Oh, I never thought on those lines! My main aim is to visit as many blogs as I can and I thought it would easier if people replied.
But, I’ll keep what you said, in mind. Thank you for letting me know about it!

When you get a minute, be sure to check your first post, the “About” section and the widget on the right. They all have default text and it would be helpful if you changed them to make the site more “you”. It would be great to know what your blog will be about (ex. soccer?).

Hello and welcome, new folks! We’re really excited to meet you.
As usual, I just want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them.
If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging. And if you’re not sure what the guidelines here are, please read the above post — or just ask!
Happy blogging, y’all:)

One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

A strong start to an interesting blog! I’m not a cyclist but I can definitely relate to your desire to be outdoors, and your love of experiencing the sights and sounds of your natural environment from a unique perspective (i.e. your bike seat). I feel that way about running, and also love the sensation of my feet connecting with the pavement. I look forward to reading more of your posts, as it seems like you’ll be embarking on some interesting cycling related endeavors!

Thanks so much for the kind and thoughtful response! I love the feeling of flow/getting lost in activity (running, cycling, or something else), and at the same time this action helps ignite our senses to nature. Gorgeous way to spend a day!

Oh my…you have such a powerful, impactful, and important story to share. I used to work in a respite and palliative care facility, and as I was reading through a couple of your posts, I was having flashbacks to the parents and families of patients, and the sense of helplessness I would often seen writ across their faces. I can’t imagine the pain and anguish you’ve experienced, but it certainly sounds like you are a strong person, who cares to share their story so that others may learn from it, identify with it, and take comfort in it.

Hi, looking for inspiration? There are craft blogs out there . . . so your sewing would fit in with those. Do you have other hobbies you could write about? I would suggest not worrying about it just yet and as you pick another topic to write about, categorise it and then you can have several themes. It’s Christmastime, so I’m sure you can add to your blog over the holiday period. A merry Christmas to you, btw 🙂

Yay 🙌first Friday!
Good morning blogging babes (& guys),
I am so excited to share upcoming publications with you. As a way of building a following before 2018, I have uploaded a placeholder blog post to introduce the concept of my site.
I know what you’re thinking, “Not another mom blog 😒😔”. Well, 💁you’re right! It’s not just another mom blog. This is a blog for kick ass creative’s who just so happen to be moms. We will discuss crucial topics involving motherhood, co-parenting, and all that– but we’ll also cover neat crafts, interesting (even steamy) books & movies 📚 🎥, yummy treats🍴, and good drinks… I mean really good drinks 🍷🍺🍸
There will be something for everyone as 2018 will be my year of “mommy rehab” 💆. I hope you enjoy and decide to follow along! Things should get interesting & Shit may definitely hit the fan every now and again, but hey– that’s the REALITY of motherhood.

Fun concept! I think your layout is clean and serves the purpose of your blog well. If I were you, I might even create a separate Facebook page for Creative Crowning; you seem to really emphasize community, so having a FB page where your followers can engage and share and kick it back might pay off.
One final note, the WordPress social media button is linking to wordpress.com, so I would get rid of that one unles you have another WP blog you want to promote.
LikeLiked by 4 people
Thanks. I love the idea of a fb page & it might actually work well to incorporate a living community and sharing space for mom creative’s! I will also be sure to remove that pesky wp social button since it serves no purpose!
Thanks again.
