Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Note: The Community Pool will be closed for maintenance next week (December 25). See you all in 2018!

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hello everybody. This one is a post with star wars jokes and puns. The main theme of my blog is alcoholism but I like to do random musings and quotes and jokes as well. Thinking I should do content aspergers related a bit more often. What do you think? Too niche or should I appeal to that niche as I have aspergers and think I should connect with my community

  3. Hello, hello, hello!

My blog is about a sailing trip aboard a one dollar boat dubbed with the name of “Patches.” Before living on Patches, I had no more than four hours experience of sailing, so this is all totally new to me!

My newest post is about Day 1 of Sailing Across the Gulf of Mexico:

I would love some comments on my page letting me know what you think, any feedback welcome! If you don’t know what to comment, let me know what you would do to pass the time on a boat!

Whenever I have WiFi, Mondays are my favorite days because of the Community Pool. If you give me any feedback on my blog, I would be happy to return the favor!

      1. It was one of the neatest experiences of my life. I did start tearing up for a few minutes while laying on the bow of the boat watching them swim and jump by. I wish everyone could experience it!

    1. Oh, and something I thought about while scrolling through your home page. I’d like it better if the “Home” page contained excerpts of the actual blogs, which you would click on to go and read the full post. The way they are now, it’s just A LOT of scrolling to try and to get to other posts. It deterred me from looking for your older ones. Just my 2.. or 254345 cents on the topic.

      1. Thanks for checking it out! I just left a comment on one of your poems. Also, love that you have the You’ve Got a Friend song linked in your About page, I listened to it while scrolling through your blog. 🙂

  4. I haven’t posted on my blog for a while due to lack of motivation and self-esteem. I’m hoping to regain my enthusiasm for writing and to get my blog back out there.

This is what its about: I started my blog a while ago because I got scared of the fact everyone’s going to uni and starting their lives whilst i’m here on a gap year not knowing what I want to do. I though I love to write and read so why not start a blog and so I plucked up the courage to do so. I don’t know where this will lead but i’m writing about travelling, health and food so if that interests you then this should appeal.

So please give my blog a read and comment any tips you have for me or things you liked on certain posts as i’d really appreciate that and i’ll be sure to check yours out too.

    Thank you for your support.

    1. We all lack motivation sometimes and that’s ok. It’s also ok to not really have a clue about what you want to do at 19, although it sucks at the time when you are trying to make enough money to buy decent wine!
I hope things settle and you find a path. Keep writing!

    2. Before I dive in and read your post – If you take a look at my archives you will see I had a gap of 14 months! I had no motivation to finish anything, lots started but couldn’t finish. In October this year I forced myself to complete something I wasn’t truly happy with – but it broke the cycle and could finally write things I’m proud of.

    1. For some reason, your photos didn’t load for me. Maybe just my computer? Interesting post though. I actually set a short story of mine that I wrote years ago in Amritsar though I didn’t know much about it. Thank you.

      1. I actually read your post, and the original posting the other day, but had yet to comment on it. I love quality re-blogs. The post was insightful, and for what it’s worth, I read the source material too.

This topic struck me because prior to making a serious attempt at writing original fiction, I was freelancing writing media reviews. After years of that, I was bothered by the fundamental notion that I was simply critiquing other people’s work. They were “doing” and I was “commenting”. So I feel like writing can be a very tangible thing that is “done”. Physical books certainly help to reinforce that. They aren’t houses or boats, but thoughts and opinions can still be put on paper to become less abstract. Is that a bit too “meta”? TL;DR Great post! Do more cool re-blogs.

  6. Hello readers and fellow bloggers,

My latest blog post is a little more personal then I thought I would get. It has to do with my year of losing weight and being the “skinny” girl, gaining some back and feeling physically and mentally weak and how I’m currently working my way back to health but doing it the best and healthiest way for me. Hope you enjoy –

  7. I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out my poem, “The Newspaper Murder Mystery.” I wrote it several years ago and had it sitting in a folder ready for a good time to post. I don’t think there’s a good time for this as it doesn’t fit with any set theme or season. There’s no real rhyme or reason here, but it’s short. Take from it what you will, but I hope you’ll enjoy. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page, and click the like button on the post page. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

    1. Already following–I like to peruse your reviews because I’m often reminded of movies I haven’t seen in years. I loved IN BRUGES, so may still check that one out sometime. Plus, Frances McDormand is pretty great, but…Well, we’ll see. OK, I admit I didn’t make it all the way through your review–hefty. Nice work, as always, though.
