If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Great start! I’ve always been an avid reader but in the last couple of years I’ve struggled to concentrate. However, my ‘reading’ of audio books while driving is off the scale 🙂

      1. Truth be told, audiobooks are a great alternative to classic novels but I love having the book in front of me and listening to its narration. I used to do this with Shakespearean plays and it did contributed a lot to my comprehension and pronunciation skills.

    1. Hello. You’ve got quite a bit on your blog and they’re all great. Two things I did notice though are that the default blank 1st blog post shows up when you go to the home page and there is a default “text widget” at the bottom of the page. If you don’t need the text widget, I’d remove it as well as delete the blank default 1st blog post. Great blog though.

  1. Hello and welcome, new folks! We’re really excited to meet you.

As usual, I just want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them.

If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging. And if you’re not sure what the guidelines here are, please read the above post — or just ask!

    Happy blogging, y’all:)

  2. Hi Everyone! I started my blog on December 1st by giving myself a challenge to post everyday until my daughter’s first birthday, and let me tell you, it is definitely a challenge! Visit my little space on the web if you like to read posts on mommy hood and the baby world 🙂

    1. I really liked your blog! I think it would be helpful to add a home page and a category option. It was a little hard navigating your blog. Overall great content and layout. Good Job!

    1. Good luck with the writing. Best thing to do is to practice lots (more blog posts) and read, read, read – because then you’ll subconsciously pick up good spelling and grammar habits.

  3. Hello everyone! I have just recently started blogging covering topics that will help you gain a better understanding about life, human characteristics and common problems like depression. I am trying my best to make my posts have the ability to motivate people to do good. I’m trying to bring a change within one’s self.

      1. I tried to allude to Buddha, as he attained enlightenment in the deer park. I feel it was a bit of a stretch though…

  5. I have always considered myself a writer, but due to life and responsibilities (and unrealistic expectations) I have fallen out of practice. I am getting back into things by just journaling each day and seeing if my writing can develop into something more. Please give me a read at alwaysbelilith.wordpress.com

  6. I love food and being pregnant I have had many challenges with food but this smoothie has been amazing throughout my pregnancy.

I also have a post every Thursday called “Thursday Tea talk” to get connected with others. It would be amazing if you guys checked it out and let me know what you think. This weeks topic is in honor of Star Wars. Also I am always welcoming feedback for my blog. Thanks guys and welcome to all who are new!

    1. Copy and paste your URL from your latest post.
I find it best to open this up then open a new tab with your blog on it. Click on your latest post and then copy the address from the box at the top of the screen. Then go back to this page and paste it.
      Hope this helps 🙂

    2. Also the one post you have on watching your YouTube video doesn’t appear to actually link to your YouTube video so you might want to provide a link or embed the video directly into the post so people can get to your YouTube.

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

    1. Welcome 🙂

If you look over to the right of your posts, you’ll see a bit of placeholder text — it’s meant to help you learn how to work with widgets, and you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

(For more on widgets, what they’re for, and how to use them, check out https://learn.wordpress.com/get-flashy/)
