Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out my poem, “Let the Villain Ride.” I wrote it several years ago and had it sitting in a folder ready for a good time to post. I don’t think there’s a good time for this as it doesn’t fit with any set theme or season. There’s no real rhyme or reason here, but it’s short. Take from it what you will, but I hope you’ll enjoy. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page, and click the like button on the post page. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

  2. Hello there my new WordPress friends!
I just started a new blog and definitely am in need of feedback. I have been writing for as long as I can remember, but I would love to be able to publish things of significance to others and that can impact individuals in a positive manner.
I think we all have our own demons to battle, but I feel it helps so much more when we come together and share the positive things we have acquired along the way.

I appreciate the feedback and will do the same in return!

  4. Hello everyone,

This week’s post is the first in my new series about comparative religion. With it I shall start discussing main stream Muslims’ views about Judaism and Christianity in a simplified manner. It’s not meant to raise any debates cause I don’t do that. It’s only a trial to convey Muslims’ beliefs in a made easy manner.

    Thanks.

  5. I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out a photography piece, “Flashback to Spring 2017.” I took this photograph back in the spring on a hike, but never found the right time to post it. As we’ve hit the beginning stages of winter with cold weather and no signs of life, this is a good reminder of what was and what will be. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page, and click the like button on the post page. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

  8. Hi Community Family!

I’m a lifestyle blogger with a passion for photography! I have just posted a blog on places in London that are perfect for escapism! Would love any feedback on my posts, and also if you have any recommendations of nice places to visit I would love for you to share 🙂 https://highsandhills.wordpress.com

      1. Aww thank you! I do sometimes try to stop and appreciate the small details something I never used to do! But it’s worth it 🙂

  9. How’s everybody doing today? I’m Joshua, the writer for Gamebooks and I wanted a little swim to start the week off. I’m doing creative writing for our blog, and tailoring content about the app itself. The app is still in development, but it would mean the world to me if you would follow our blog, like our posts, and if you have an iPad download the free app. I’ll be reading a lot of your content and supporting your writing efforts. Cheers!

    1. That’s very well written and I know I can see a lot of myself in it. Being curious, I wish you included a few more concrete details about what prompted the blog, but I’ll be back because I think there may be more thought-provoking writing coming.

    2. I took a gamble and clicked that Follow button, too. Surprise me. Great start. What I would suggest – adding the traditional “About” and “Contact” pages, so that it is easier for people to get to know what your blog is/ will be about, what drives you, etc.

    1. Great blog. Love the theme and some the pictures you included in the post you linked are really incredible. I am having the same difficulty others are. I noticed that when I click on your “blog” tab at the top of your page and scroll down there is a way to subscribe via email but there is no option to follow in Word Press.

      1. Oh I’m not actually sure how to add that. I just recently added the subscribe button. I continue to look into it. Thank you so much for the feedback

      2. Yours is the first blog that I’ve seen the problem on. Then again, I am still sort of new to Word Press, so I’m not sure how common it is or isn’t. Now that I’m thinking about it, I don’t know if you can actually add the button yourself. I think the follow icon should be provided automatically by Word Press. I would suggest maybe getting in contact with them to see if they can help. I doubt anything major is wrong.

  10. Hey everyone! I’m a lifestyle blogger and I post about food, beauty, diy, poetry etc. Recently I’ve changed my theme and layout to what I think is more reader-friendly. It would be greatly appreciated if I could get some feedback on that. Thanks 🙂

    1. Now that you’ve started writing things (which is harder than people think), now you want to make your blog more like a home for your writings. For one thing, you may want to spend an afternoon in the Customizer, playing with how your blog behaves. Also, it will allow you to customize your About page so people can know more about you.

    2. Hi there! I liked the imagery you evoke in your poetry. Have you ever thought about playing with sentence lengths? The only reason I ask is because your poems felt a tad restricted due to nearly every line or two ending with a period. Try enjambment if you like. Only a suggestion! 🙂 Also, I agree with Jonny that you should try to customize your blog to what you’ll be writing about. Best of luck and happy writing!!

  11. Hi everyone! This is my first time participating in the community pool. I’ve been on WordPress for something like a year now, but it took me a while to really get into it. I’m working on my first fantasy novel/s, which has been a project I’ve attempted repeatedly over the years that just never took off until last year, when the damn of inspiration broke. Portions of my book are posted to my blog, and I’d be very glad for any honest feedback I can get. Here is a link to the first chapter, if anyone is interested.

      1. Oh no! Is that still happening? I thought I fixed that problem! Thanks for pointing it out. I’m not really sure what to do about it. Technology is not my thing! Lol!

      2. Thanks for the tip. I’ll try it next time I get on WordPress via the web. I usually only use my app for posting, and there is no option on it for changing fonts and colours. 😊

      3. By the way, cool blog! As much as I love arts and crafts, I never seem to have the time for anything or the supplies. How do people do it?!

      4. I’m impressed! Between keeping up with my household chores, my three year old daughter, yoga, writing, horse riding, etc, I’ll be lucky to find a few minutes for crafts. And a few minutes just isn’t enough for me!
