Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

      1. Hi Ruby. You have a discerning eye for details. To answer your question: the Anglos who fought against the Mexicans for an independent Texas, fought in the Texian Army, and were referenced as Texians. Whereas, modern citizens of Texas are called Texans. Thank you for stopping by and sharing.

    1. Sense of smell is so funny. We associate people and places with certain ones. But sometimes, when we subconsciously think of someone or something, we swear we can smell something related to them, where in truth no one else can.

    2. Lovely pictures and a good read 🙂 I like your style of writing and the way i can read like I imagine you saying it (even though I obviously have no idea what you sound like). The only thing I would suggest if you were looking to improve the post, is to put the photos in between chunks of text, rather than have all the images followed by all the text. I think it would just break it up nicely 🙂

      1. Haha thankyou so much 🙂
Yes I’ll definitely keep in mind your suggestion from my next post ; any way to make it a better read is great.
I usually attach just one image to a post so I keep it at the start but if I attach more than one I’d definitely do it your way.
        Thanks again 😀

Harsh is now going through this phase of change where his life and the lives of people closest to him, are affected drastically, because of some bad choices he made. 3. For some reason, there’s a weird sign that says this every time I enter this site. It says this:
This page is trying to load scripts from unauthenticated sources.
Could wordpress find some way to solve this issue?

      1. I think your blog is off to a good start. The quotes you have are relatable and inspiring. The more content you post the more your blog will prosper. I also find that the colors you’ve picked are great

    1. Hi, I just checked out your blog. Perhaps you should check your custom settings? I couldn’t see a ‘like button’ appearing. I was going to like one of your post.

      1. Hi iSpeak, you can change the custom settings by viewing your site. If you are ‘loggen in’ when you scroll down on your main blog site there’s a ‘custom’ word that would appear at the right bottom part of your screen. Click on that and it will head you to the different settings on your blog like Main Title, Font Size, etc. Or you can changr the ‘Theme’ of your blog. Maybe that’s the reason? When you ‘logged in’ the ‘Theme’ should be located on the left side. It’s along with the Media and Plan. That’s all I can provide for now because I’m not really sure why. Have you also tried putting a Title on each of your post? Let me know if you’ve did this and still no change. Hope it helps.

  4. The community pool is a great connection. I am currently taking the blogging fundamentals program and it is great! I really didn’t want to change my theme when that project came up but now that I’ve tried a few and see it looks so much better, I just might do it! Thank you.

  5. Hi community pool fellows. I’ve just penned a few poems and published them to my blog in the past few weeks. I would love some critical responses, or simply just a view and a mutual understanding of the content. Thanks all. JD

      1. Oh, I see. I thought there are actual written posts behind those pictures. Now I understand the way you present them.
I accepted your challenge and found out that the painting spoke to me. Thank you.

I misspoke earlier. Maybe it’s not fear, but more of a need to be prepared/ in control.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. I found it lovely.

      1. Thank you! Check out the other chapters too, if you have time. 🙂 Hey, I was just wondering on how to wrap my Christmas gifts (I’m terrible at it) and I just saw your diy post on gift wrapping. It was great. 😀

    1. I used to recycle last year’s cards for the next year’s gift tags. Each tag would be individual. Just cut around the Santas, baubles and robins with a little bit of card jutting out for a fold so that the receiver can see who gifted the present. 🙂

  9. Hey everyone, my latest post is called, “What Can I Do?” There are so many horrific things that are happening in the world and people, human beings just like you and me are suffering. The good thing is that there are people and organizations helping but I want to help to. Please read my post, leave feedback. It would mean a lot. Thank you.

      1. I’m not really into military and political history. I like British history – but I have studied some aspects of world history and found them compelling such as the Holocaust and slavery and race in the USA. I like women’s history, history of crime, philanthropy, royal, social, eighteenth and nineteenth century histories. There’s quite a mix.

    1. Hi there. I read quite a few posts. Strength is the photography and I think the best posts were the ones where you got a little technical and talked about getting the shot. I would continue to appeal to photographers. You had one post where you talked about 30 minutes earlier this is what the shot would have looked like. That element worked the best.

      1. Thank you so much for an honest review. I get that. Not many people take so much pains to read and provide such an advice. Thank you once again. Any other suggestions as a way forward?

      2. Thanks Danny. I quite didn’t get when you mentioned “…as far as content no.”
can you help me in this? I’m clear when you mention building community and following among photography bloggers but this I didn’t get on content aspect. Thanks 🙂
