Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. I changed the layout of my blog hoping it would make it a bit easier to follow the fantastical and adventurous world I’m trying to create. May you please check it out, let me know what you think? Was content easy to find and follow? Were buttons and links working? Did everything make sense?! Who am I!?

Those questions and more – looking for answers =)

      1. I’ve been finding that life’s greatest happenings are by accident and by chance – thank you I’m thrilled you liked it! That is a character named Steins weapon of choice in Radiant Heroes, and it is quite mystical! I’m in the process of writing the second one which will lead to another trailer and more things on fire haha stay tuned!

    1. Back in my hayday I was Firedog at Circuit City and when they went under I started an in-home service that I recently sold. Firstly I will tell you that I love what you’re doing! No one gets anywhere alone and every problem can be fixed with the help of great generous fountains of knowledge like yourself – thank you. Share your experience and it will come back to you in dividends! Secondly, I would recommend that you change your layout theme. The content you are putting up is technical, the details are fine, and since it’s not photo based it shouldn’t be so ‘in your face’, it’s not the welcoming people expect. I am referring to the top 6 large photo links. Thirdly, you might be surprised how much positive feedback you will get from having less specific posts and throw one in about things that are technical to some (though elementary to you) ie; keyboard commands, screenshots, etc. In summary, keep doing what you’re doing, thank you for doing it and I hope this helps!

  2. Oh my! What a delicious serendipitous morsel did I enjoy just the other day. Never before did that I know that sweetness could manifest this way.

You know those moments when the frayed edges of life seem to unfold symphonically, joining together in concert? No? Me either.

  4. Hello, I put something together about suicide. I know the holidays are coming and can be difficult, if you wouldn’t mind sharing this I’d like to reach as many as possible. Sometimes knowing you aren’t the only one helps. Thank you everyone.

  5. Hi, I write weekly “Trail Tips” – Providing inspiration for your journeys on the Trail, Personal, and Work Life.

Each one has a theme and “tip” that can be applied to your hiking, personal, and work life.

I post them on my web page at http://www.alandersen.co, my facebook page, and LinkedIn. The one posted today is my 40th one done in the last 12 months, goal is to write another 110 of them in the next two years and then go into a book form. I know my web page needs to be worked on. Would appreciate any and all feedback on my web page and more importantly, the posts themselves. Thank you!!!
