Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.
Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Hello everybody, Simon from To Cut a Short Story Short here with my latest flash fiction tale. The past and present collide in Three Lives, just 550 words this tine. I hope you like it!
https://simonjwood.wordpress.com/2017/12/10/three-lives/
Also, I have a few promotional codes left for FREE copies of my new audiobooks, To Cut a Short Story Short: 111 Little Stories, the ‘best of my blog’ (up to June 2017), and Bound in Morocco (a short story). If you’d like one, please click the ‘Free Audiobooks!’ link in the ‘recent posts’ sidebar on my blog. That gives you full details of how to obtain and download them. They are both narrated by Angus Freathy, who has done 15 audiobooks to date, and whose ‘voices’ really bring the stories to life!

That was interesting, Simon! It sounded like a bit of the movie “Inception”. – a story within a story within another one… but you have successfully narrated a captivating tale in just 550 words! Omg, my internet is so slow, that I almost gave up on viewing your blog, but I love Scotland and really wanted to see the photographs everyone was raving about! Very nice. Your photography gives such a tranquil feel. My favourite is this: Long exposure at midnight, from Cille Bhrighde, South Uist. Magnificent! I’d gladly hang a print of that in my house! You have a talent!

My latest post for my history blog! Would love you to follow 🙂
Started in September 2016 and finished yesterday! I admit adding 14 photos to look professional was very long winded and took a hell of a lot of editing, even now, I can see where it should be amended further, but the actual writing page on WordPress has the photos perfect, it’s only when you publish they are off centre, etc.
You will see – I gave up! Enjoy a little bit of Victorian postal history 🙂

The plot thickens! I had 2 rows of 3 pics lined up . . .they’ve landed in a V shape. There’s another 3 – 2 vertical (left and right) and then a horizontal one underneath. They have not settled in the correct place. The last 2 have a large gap between the text and photos as in my writing page if I move the text up anymore the text sits partly between the photos!
Next post back to the usual format of one pic at a time. 🙂

I loved the quote you added, it went along well. only thing I would critique on is making the writing more conversational, its kind of a personal topic something you’d talk to a friend about so making it more conversational I think would make it even more relatable, and more likely to come back to the site.

Ok no worries, thank you I will have a look into that. Content wise I take it more as my own diary which isn’t going to appeal to the masses. What do you think? X

Content is great . . . you’re promoting something crucial. Now when it comes to drawing other bloggers into your site to read your post, like on Community Pool, say a little bit about the post to pique their interest. 🙂

Great post! I’m not the most social of people . . . would much rather meet a friend for coffee in the afternoon for an hour than go to parties and pubs in the evening. 🙂

Yea me too sometimes parties are too overwhelming with all of the people and limited space. Thank you 🎉

Thank you!! I looked at your blog and I love reading a bit recipes from cultures I do not typically hear about. Especially including a background story on the significance of the dishes to the related culture. Your readers get a two for one, a recipe and quick history lesson

Happy Monday, if such a thing exists! Last week, for International Volunteer Day, I wrote about the lessons I learned from the seven years I spent volunteering at a local retirement centre. I’d love to hear your thoughts and, as always, I’m excited to read some great posts from you all today! https://sherinaspeaks.com/2017/12/05/how-volunteering-changed-my-life/

Such a great post. My job takes me into care homes for the elderly and I always make an effort to have a chat. You don’t know their stories and they could have very little visitors and a little communication goes a lot way to cheer someone up 🙂
