First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Just a tip. You may want to add a translation widget like GTranslate or some other widget to help those of us that don’t speak Portuguese read your blog. Good luck!

    1. Hair is indeed interesting and yes I’ve always wondered – not exactly why humans have so little hair in some parts of our body and more in others – but why the heck everybody seems so concerned about their hair. I’ll be watching for your blog! 🙂

    2. Hi, you have a very specific blog, so it would be nice to find out a bit about yourself, that’s where the About page comes in. Its the place most new readers go first.

      Happy blogging.

    1. Welcome! We’re glad you’re excited about your blog 🙂

We’d appreciate it it you didn’t post multiple comments with links to your posts — there are a lot of new folks here, and we try to make room for everyone. If you’d like to get some more visitors for your blog, the best way is to interact with some other people here.

    1. I’m not sure if this is right but the social media buttons that you have under your logo don’t lead to your personal twitter, facebook, google+, etc websites. I would probably follow you on twitter or facebook but I’d need to know how to find you on other social media. You may want to update the buttons to link to your individual pages. This is only if you’ve actually set up accounts for each of the social media links.

Also, there is nothing on your About page, so the readers of your blog won’t be able to get to know more about you if it’s not filled out.

Lastly, there is a text widget that is on every page in the right column. Currently, it’s blank. You may want to just remove the widget until you decide what to put in the widget or put a different widget in the right column that might better suit what you need.

    1. Your blog has a great start and it’s actually intriguing. I’m interested to see what you have to say about the idea of a traditional man. Hopefully chivalry and manners will be a topic.

Also, I like the simple look of your blog theme as well. No frills and it works.

      1. Your blog is very interesting as well and I’m in the process of reading them all (excluding the vegetarian one…). I am fascinated by the opportunities you get for travel and other experiences. Please continue to post.

The outward actions of a traditional man will be addressed in the future for sure

    1. Hello. I’m not sure if this is your intent but the social media buttons at the top of your blog lead to twitter and instagram and what not, but they don’t lead to your personalized social media. I’d like to click on the instagram button and be lead to instagram.com/blessingsambi or twitter.com/thelighthouse or whatever your actual social media site is so that if I wasn’t on wordpress I could follow you on instagram, facebook, etc.

If you have each of your social sites set up, you probably just need to connect them to the widget that is in your blog for social media. Great blog by the way.

    1. Hi, great post!
Might I suggest you customise your page to add a side bar which you can personalise with tags, categories, archives, social media etc. You can check other blogs to see which themes you prefer. Also use you about section to give other bloggers a little info about yourself/your blog – if you check out mine you’ll see it’s very brief – maybe too brief.
I look forward to reading more posts from you. 🙂

    1. Hi!
Your site looks nice! I noticed that you have not posted anything in the “about” page. I suggest that you update it as it’ll give your viewers an overview about your site and what your blog is going to be about.
      Best of luck!🌿
