Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hi Yoll… Waves from the Caribbean…! Are you interested in DIYs? Photography? Short Stories..? Poetry? If you are then my blog probably isn’t one you’d like.

But if you are interested in the pains women have to go through for beauty… if you interested in the uncomfortable things we have to go through year after year… if you wanna hear me rant about an A hole player or empathize with the plight of women…

  2. Hi. This is Diyali. And I am a book blogger. In fact, my life currently revolves around books. So in this precious little blog that I own, I rant out my heart about some book that I have just currently read, or that book which is an highly anticipated release, or a bookish photograph. Basically bookish blabber.

    1. I got a good laugh from your first photo, because you said you just bought a camera to take photos of things and THAT photo was of “your camera.” So, how did you take your photo was my thought THEN I realized you were telling us details about the camera. Nice camera! I’ve been thinking I need a camera soon… my phone is constantly out of memory. Great post! 🙂 http://www.brilliantviewpoint.com

      1. Haha! Thanks! Its a seriously good budget camera! Worth a look at!
I will be posting some portraits soon hopefully!

P.S. I hate those moments you just had! My worst is when I lose my phone and it’s still in my hand!

      2. Good question, hard for me to tell you. I ALWAYS write to the WordPress Happiness Engineers and they tell me or send me a link that explains how to do things. Here you go: https://wordpress.com/help

Good if you can add the Follow by Email and the other just Follow, which goes into your reader.

I like to follow people by email, so I know when they posted a new article. If new posts just go to my reader, I will miss things. That’s my opinion. BUT give people options on how to Follow you.

  4. Hey there. I hope you have had a great start into your week! 😀
I am still rather new to blogging. As for now, I am experimenting with different pieces trying to find my own direction in writing. So far, my blog seems to be a rather colorful spot on the internet.
I would really appreciate some feedback on my new article. Especially on the writing style. (And if you enjoy to travel and/or art, then this might be a little inside tip for you.)
Please stop by and check it out! 😀
    Enjoy!

  5. Hello Everybody! This is my first blog and I’d love to have some feedback on my About page and the first post. https://warriorsoulrising.blog/

I think my major concern is about sounding whiny, while I’m trying to do the exact opposite. Thank you so much for taking the time to read through. I’m looking forward to reading your blog and contributing more here.

    1. I like the design of your website. Regarding sounding whiny… this was your first post, so I am not sure what direction you are going with your Blog. If you say you don’t want to be whiny, what do you mean by that? Your message was about feeling lost… and now I think you are trying to share how you found yourself? That’s how it appears, yes? This is your FIRST post, so you can choose the direction you go in. Do you focus on poor me, or focus on the title of your blog: warrior soul rising. This is exciting – you choose the message. http://www.brilliantviewpoint.com

      1. Yes, the blog is about how I continue to find myself, and I want the focus to be on a warrior soul rising. ‘I choose the message’ clears up a lot of my confusion and concern. 🙂 that is a “brilliant view point”, thank you!

I took a look at your blog and I love how you share your experiences with the world. The opera post for your mom was both moving and interesting. The gentleman at the cemetery gave me a lot to think about (in unexpected ways)! I look forward to reading more!

      2. Thank you! I love the name of your Blog “Warrior Soul,” if you keep that in mind while you think of articles to right, you will always focus on the “warrior within!” For me, I tend to enjoy reading sites that are uplifting, good energy, wanting to conquer the world! SO, I look forward to seeing how you decide to focus your posts. Here’s to Warriors!! 🙂

  7. Hello, fellow bloggers…

Didn’t do my usual Sunday post yesterday so I’m sharing a recent concert review I did for Mac Demarco. I saw him in Santa Barbara a couple weeks ago and it was a great time. Mac’s been one of my favorite artists for a couple years and his performance totally lived up to the hype. Let me know your thoughts and if you haven’t heard of Mac, do yourself a favor and go check him out.

      1. Thanks very much for the feedback, I think I noticed it more this time because I edited so much of what I had said. I think I can do without swearing unless directly quoting someone (or myself). Thanks again, much appreciated

    1. I think you need to always use the words that sound good to you and convey what you want to say. If you impose restrictions on the words you use then, you risk compromising your voice and your voice is what makes you unique. If you normally do not use words then they probably won’t pop up in your writing. I guess I’m trying to say that you need to remain true to yourself. That’s all I got. I enjoyed the read. You and your boy share something special!

  8. I’ve posted a few pieces in the last couple of weeks – this is new today – but I actually wrote it and thought I’d posted it earlier this year. Went looking for it on the blog today and realised it was not there!

My blog is history based and please feel free to take a look and follow if you love your history!

This is 20th Century UK history – the fight for woman suffrage – my blog covers several different centuries and themes and I’m trying to build up a solid portfolio for followers to enjoy.

    1. Congratulations on a HUGE and AWESOME milestone!!!!!!! Some days I feel like “why would anyone read my blog?” while others I’m like “why aren’t more people reading my blog??” haha. How long have you been blogging now? I have been since the end of April and have over 250 followers now. Did it take you long to reach 1000? If I had more time I would check out more of your blog; just wanted to wish you the best and say how neat I think your blog is!! 🙂

  9. Good evening people of WordPress! If you have a spare moment please check out my post called The Lighthouse on my blog, it’s a short story that close family and friends have praised me about however that’s what they have to do, isn’t it? So please give me your honest opinion and also remember I’m no J.K Rowling so I’m obviously not the best! Thanks, bye!

  10. Hi all! I’m a fairly new blogger. I write face mask reviews mainly, but I like to write about other things sometimes too. I post a lot on Instagram and try to integrate that with my blog. I love WordPress because not only does it offer you exposure, but it allows you to be introduced to other blogs! To all the newbies on here, welcome!

    1. Great blog! Very easy to navigate, the photos are engaging and you seem to write posts that provide a lot of context for the reader. A helpful tip to consider would be to break down your paragraphs and make them smaller! This way they can be read a little easier whilst still enjoying the content 🙂 x
