Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. Great site. Don’t know how I never stumbled upon it before. I’m an INTJ, so we’ve got three-fourths of everything possible in common! But really, I’m following! Love the bad book review. I stopped cold at “where Sandra and Jose had been mating.” Oh my. Hadn’t heard of the book–glad I don’t have to waste my time now. I also write the occasional review on my blog. Tomorrow, I’ll be reviewing a memoir called Cinderland. Maybe you’d check it out? Here’s another review, of a novel: https://rustbeltgirlblog.wordpress.com/2017/09/18/american-rust-restless-ruin-a-book-review/

    2. I never choose to read reviews, of anything really, but this caught my eye. I started and groaned inwardly, thinking, yep this is why I do not read reviews. Then the twist. I liked your review very much. Refreshing and honest. The rest of the site is great too.

    1. Hmmm your blog is great , good colors , great type
Topic but you should rename a page called testimonials by About. It’s more interesting for the visitors.

    2. Love the set out and theme you are doing well. When I hit a home button I expect to go to a start page. I think what you have written shout be an about me page. Just keep reading the tutorials, and experimenting. Not that I am an expert! Hope that helps a little and good luck. Happy writing.

  1. Hey everyone! My latest post is about things I would have wanted to tell myself when I was seventeen. I am sure all of us has had thoughts like ‘wish someone was there at that time to teach me these things’, right? So playing with that emotion I have written my post. Hope you can give it a read and do tell me if there’s any room for improvement. Constructive criticism is always welcome🤗🤗

  2. I’d love to get some feedback for my blog, and a few likes and followers. I’m a beginner and need a little help getting out there!

    1. Thoughtful read! One comment would be that the link I clicked didn’t seem to go to your site but redirected to mine? Maybe grab the link from your website when it’s not opened as part of the wordpress reader?

    2. I enjoyed the writing, I do have a few things to mention that might help you complete your blog!
      – Fill out your “About” page, you still have generic text there. The same goes for your “Contact” page.
      – There is also a generic “Text Widget” waiting to be filled out within your Menu button.
      – Clicking on your page, I liked the layout a lot, but when scrolling down was met with huge blocks of writing. Just a suggestion and do with it what you will, but sometimes shorter paragraphs make reading simpler and not as overwhelming as a large block of words.

      1. No worries, it definitely can be difficult at first, but once you get used to navigating WordPress, it’ll become easier and easier to change and make things exactly how you want them. 🙂

It should be fairly easy to edit all of the generic text that I mentioned. If you’re logged into WordPress and you visit your own site, and go to the About page, there should be an ‘edit’ button right there and same goes for any other generic text.

        Best of luck!

    3. You’re writing is really good! I think you’d be good at doing longer sections of writing because it’s clear you have amazing talent! Sadly I’ve never been great at writing which is probably why I do reviews instead 😀

  3. As a teenager, my overriding aspiration was to move to the city and form a band. It was the start of a journey that would take me from the clubs of Newcastle to the pages of the NME and the very cusp of success, only to change direction and drop me in the wilds of Cumbria. En route, Jimi Hendrix would make room for a Borough Treasurer from Blackburn who disliked music, didn’t much like people, but loved the hills and whose writing opened my eyes to a whole new world. My latest blog tells the story…

  4. Big Hello blogging friends. I was inspired by the weeds in my garden for this post, sometimes, it can come from the unlikeliest of places. https://crowdedmind.co/advice-safe/. I discovered last week that if you delete an image from your media file, that image disappears from your page!!!! Not sure if that is news to anyone but I thought I would mention it, as I had to spend half a day putting it all back!! Learn from my stupidity.

      1. “Are you sure you want to delete this item? Deleted media will no longer appear anywhere on your website, including all posts, pages, and widgets. This cannot be undone.” this is what comes up…

    1. I’m not good at poetry review… poetry isn’t really my thing. However, I can tell you this: It certainly evoked a feeling of love and of loss, making me think of my grandfather. Nice work! One wish: perhaps it would be better to use a photograph that doesn’t have a watermark all over it. The watermark makes it seem like the photo was an afterthought, like it wasn’t really worth putting on there. I think the photo is great, but the watermark takes away from it a bit. I like your poem, and I would hate for something like that to detract from your work.

      1. Hey, thanks a lot! That’s a really valuable feedback you gave me right there! Allow me to say that your posts are more different than any other I have viewed and touch upon the interesting and sensitive topics which so many people are afraid to. I can surely tell you this, whoever reads your blog will have a smile on their face!

      1. Thanks so much for taking the time to read and drop some feedback! I appreciate it! I also enjoyed your blog. I love how you use it as both a blog and personal journal it seems. Your post on balance is awesome! I’m a huge believer in finding balance in every aspect of life. Your posts are insightful but also provide guidance.
