First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Hi Silver, you have quite a niche blog (or is there a big bunch of you guys out there?), but it is set up very well, very dynamic which aligns with your theme. Are you using any tags in your posts to connect with other anime fans?

Btw, you have a text widget at the bottom of your About page which you can remove if you don’t need it

    1. Hi welcome to wordpress. You have a good start. I always like travle blogs. So congrats on starting one. I would suggest a few things:
      1. I know you prolly just started but in the coming days think of changing the stock header image – you have a travel blog set it to something scenic like the pic of your fav place.
      2. The layout currently is just a long thin column the rest of the page is empty try to arrange the blog so it fills up the space or maybe choose a different theme. Look up other travel blogs for inspiration.
      3. (This is entirely optional just my opinion) You posts are nice but I would suggest revising them once you have written them. I think a lot of the sentences can be condensed for example if you want to say “Conversing with the local people, I came to know that the villagers have a tradition of celebrating each evening by going to the temple with musicians heading a small rally.” you could instead say “Local villagers traditionaly celebrate each evening by visiting the temple with musicians heading a small rally.” This way you cut out extra words and brings the action first. Once again you are welcome to your own way of writing – this is just a suggestion.

Good start – keep writing and keep posting.

    1. Hi welcome to wordpress. For a month old blog you already have over 800 followers that is Amazing, something I have never seen before 🙂 Congrats
I like the idea of a life style blog and sharing things one is faced with on a daily basis. I would certainly like to read what you post next.
      Enjoy

    1. Hi! Just read your blog. Really interesting and a good read. Will use your recommendations. My opinion is that you should divide your blog into sections, as now you need to scroll down the whole story, so you can read the next ones, but that’s just my opinion. Please, keep it up! 🙂

  2. Hello and welcome, new folks! We’re really excited to meet you.

As usual, I just want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them.

If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging. And if you’re not sure what the guidelines here are, please read the above post — or just ask!

    Happy blogging, y’all:)

  3. The LORD

    Hi everyone 🙂
It took me years to gather confidence to start my own blog.
Took me months after creating my blog to script the first blog post of my life.
This post is a fresh tiny fruit of the alternate world that keeps spinning in my head perpetually.

I’m so much looking forward to all sorts of feedbacks.

    Cheers to the bloggers 💖🌠

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your post. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

  4. Hi there I’m a new blogger, my blog is all about the storytelling of D&D, I hope people who don’t have an interest in the game would still enjoy my main posts on inspiration such as the passing of seasons or how to create a sense of time and place through philosophies.

https://wordpress.com/posts/cupofd20s.wordpress.com this is my first post (2 weeks back) and it’s about pitching the game to people outside of the hobby so I think it’s fairly relevant 😀

    1. Welcome!

FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get the public link is to go to your blog’s homepage and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that.

      Here’s your homepage: https://cupofd20s.wordpress.com/

    1. hey really like your blog. We are a student couple so the theme is right for us. Love your sweet short posts. I think you have a good idea here.
Good Luck and welcome to wordpress. I would suggest to add the webaddress of your blog here in the message make it easier for people to click and just go there. I mean the hyperlink.
