Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.
Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

I love it!! The voice in your posts is awesome and I was smiling as I scrolling through your page and just kept reading and reading your posts. I also chuckled at the disclaimer. Very cool blog, keep it coming, you have definitely gained a follower in me. Also, yes yes bugs are strange. I just recently moved onto a boat and honestly didn’t think bugs would be too much of a problem as we’re not on land, but I have been making acquaintance with all sorts of different spiders and flying bugs that I’d never seen before.

Hi everyone!
New to blogging and have a couple questions. I’ve been using a black background to highlight the text but wondering if it makes it look too bland. Also, keep or lose the quotation marks? Thanks for your feedback.

I actually like the black background AND the quotation marks. I feel like the black makes a statement and draws in the reader’s eye.

The black background didn’t bother me. Do you need quotation marks if they’re your quotes? Quotation marks made me think, initially, that you were quoting someone else. I did want an explanation on your About page as to why you are working up these short messages, what they mean to you, who you are, etc.

Hmm…
Well, I believe you have a lovely and simply blog! I’m usually against black background and white text because it can be harder on the eyes. In your case, because the entire background isn’t black, I think you’re okay. 🙂 I was also about to suggest adding a new color every other post or something, but so long as you add the occasional picture with text like I have noticed, I think you will be fine. This is just my opinion.
I do want to stress how cool your layout/blog is! It’s very user friendly and easy on the eye. Thanks for the share and I wish you all the best!

Good morning!
In my opinion, I think readers appreciate readability more than color template. I’ve found (and read) that normal-sized black text on a white background is optimum. Of course, play around with all the cool themes and experiment with color in all other areas of your site, but weird colored text and too many graphics can be off-putting and chaotic for the reader.

Hello friends! New post up about exploring Land Between the Lakes National Rec Area. Lots of hiking, wildlife, and unfortunately, ticks. My entire blog is about my trip traveling on a sailboat for a year.
I also just did some editing to my page, mostly the sidebar and About me section.
Feedback is appreciated and I’ll return the favor!

I remember feeling a little bad telling you that your last post was a little long for me to get through. This one was GREAT–and not just because I’m from the Midwest and love to see fantastic pics of my neck of the woods. You moved through the story quicker but still filled the reader in on your adventure, even the buggy parts. Ack–my skin is still crawling. I’m enjoying following your journey. I’m following!

My newest post, just out today, is about self-care…specifically taking the time for yourself and getting a massage. It’s really not just for the rich or athletes!
Take a read and I think I’ll convince you to take more time for yourself, even if you aren’t quite ready for a professional massage. You’re worth it!!

Hi there! Great and informative information you have in your post! 😃 I liked the blend between your experience and practical application. (That’s probably the perpetual student in me talking…!) I had a massage a few months ago and was disappointed! It was supposed to be full body but the masseuse spent 45 minutes of my hour working my upper back. I was disappointed because I specified I wanted full body AND most of my tension was in my low back. Sighs. Oh well. I haven’t completely written off not returning, but the price and the disappointment has kept me from returning. Your post has made me think of reconsidering.
Also, is your like button enabled? I didn’t see it. Thanks for the great read! 😃💫

Thanks for reading! Yes, I agree that everyone has different experiences. Maybe you could be extra clear before your massage about what you want and tell them what happened during your previous appointment. If you don’t decide to go back, there are lots of relaxing things to do at home also! (I don’t think I have a wordpress like button, just social sharing buttons.)

I will keep that in mind. I do practice yoga regularly, but had a bit of a falling out of routine this summer, which upon reflection is the answer to why I had more noticeable low back pain. Ah, good to know. Thanks again!

Oh, you silly bloggers and blog followers out there-You have just caught me, just when I was about to go into my writing…But that’s OK-I always enjoy the fact that the WordPress Community Pool comes along every week, sort of like the blogging version of the ice cream truck! Now, I had been looking at some YouTube videos and read about that blizzard that had struck Boston back in 1978; And I had figured that it would be a great idea for my story serial this week, a fictional tale of events that would happen before, during, and after the Blizzard of 1978 in which also happens to be a love story of sorts…So, who are the lead romantics, you ask? Well, you need to visit my blog and find out…And no, it is not that annual story serial extravaganza in which I would be planning to bring to you in November-I shall bring that to you then…This story serial happens to be different than the one in which I am planning to bring to you in the next month, because this story serial is a historical fiction tale inspired by the Blizzard of 1978, so I very well suggest that you stay tuned to my blog, KALEIDOSCOPE for the very beginning of my newest story serial, “The Blizzard of ’78”; Also, in case you haven’t noticed, next Tuesday, October 17th, is the release date of my debut Amazon Kindle e-book, “A Girl Named Cinderella”; complete details at http://www.amazon.com! Now, if you are looking for a fun read to start your week, then look no further than KALEIDOSCOPE-Join in the fun by becoming a follower of my blog today at http://www.j2w7.wordpress.com! I hope that everybody has a most blessed week ever…With love-JW
