Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

The Community Pool will be closed for maintenance next week (September 11) — we’ll see you again the following Monday (September 18)!

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hello, I am new to blogging and just starting out. I am a pre-service teacher and mother with interests in the early childhood realm. The purpose of my blog is to become a space to reflect and share teaching practices. I figure I have used many ideas from the web so maybe it’s time for me to post my ideas/experiences and give back a little. This is a link to my latest blog post that I wrote. https://lisarowntreeece.wordpress.com/2017/09/06/regulating-emotions/
If you could please provide some feedback it would be much appreciated. Thank you, Lisa

    1. Intersting read. I am a homeschooling mom who taught before I began homeschooling. I was advised to break my blog into shorter paragraphs, I give you the same advise. I don’t know why, but it makes it easier to read.

    1. I like it. Live for the moment. Not easy, but I like this three questions approach. Tolstoy knew his stuff, and you summarize it well. I agree with the comment below, too: succinct is good with these things.

  3. Hello fellow bloggers!

My family recently had a lifestyle change moving onto a property outside of the city, we fitted out a 40ft shipping container and our home is completely Off The Grid.

We started a blog to track our OTG adventures, share our lessons learnt, my recipes and some laughs along the way.

Would love to hear your feedback, thoughts, tips!!

    1. Love the name of your blog!
This post is really relatable, and very well written!
What I do when I make a phonecall is ask at the beginning if I’m interupting. The answer no kinda stops me from feeling like I’m a burden. 🙂 Keep going!

  4. Hi… I recently wrote a post that is very close to my heart. It is about the changing face of relationship that I share with my father. https://pseudomonaz.wordpress.com/2017/09/06/little-things/

I am a personal blogger who likes to write about her life and share her story with the world anonymously. I recently completed five years in blogging, but still find so many new things to learn here each day.

I would love to receive any kind of feedback on my posts. Thank you.

    1. I enjoyed your post on turmeric. I eat turmeric everyday. You have more tags than you need. Only posts with 15 or fewer tags+categories show up in the WordPress Reader. My suggestion is to remove tags that people are unlikely to use for a search. For example, blogger, bloggers, to, and you are not words people would likely use to find a post on turmeric. Good tags for your post would be: healthy spice, turmeric, using turmeric. https://gracelead.co

    1. Hey! I really like your blog! Just had a look around. I like the style of your blog and your writing. I love music so if you haven’t already maybe consider what topics you can write within the area of music? It’s your blog though so it’s completely up to you! My blog is about my new journey as I’ve just moved half way across the world so I always write down things I can blog about as you can easily run out of ideas. Maybe different playlists you’ve created etc? I think it’s great, I suppose people have to be into your style of music to enjoy your blog which is why I suggested other areas you could branch out into ☺️

      Hope that made sense
      All the best, Rosie x

    1. Hey Eliza, I just read both of your poems and if I may say, I prefer ‘my choice’. I guess it’s because I can relate to it more 🙂 really beautifully done! And by the way, I really like the layout of your blog ^^

  5. Hi! Please check out my post entitled Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent: What it takes to reclaim a word.

I’d greatly appreciate all feedback on my first proper piece.

Also, warning, it’s all about the use of the word ‘c*nt’ so expect some explicit language, but I have tried to be tasteful.

    Thank you 😊
