Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

The Community Pool will be closed for maintenance next week (September 11) — we’ll see you again the following Monday (September 18)!

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  2. Hey everyone! I love traveling, and with every trip I go on, I learn something new and discover pieces of myself bit by bit. In my latest post, I’ve written about something which recently happened and a fear I overcame. Hope you enjoy it!

    1. Thanks for the reminder! You have a great photographer on your hands. We can’t all control how our day is going to go, but we can control how we respond to it for sure.

      2. I have been using VCSO Cam and Snapseed for a very long time on my phone and Ipad to edit my blog pictures. A month ago, I started learning how to use Lightroom. To me, it’s a bot complicated than the two apps, but I think I will get used to using it.

    1. Haha, loved how you started out with the disclaimer that you are not one of those bitten by travel bug. I wonder if my site makes it sound too much like a travel bug writer.. anyhow, I completely agree that being in nature heals you. Lots of people tend to forget that, what with all the technology around us.

  4. Hi! Community Pool really helps a lot specially for those who are beginners with blogging like me. Well I’m getting visitors and views with my blogs however I am not sure what they think about my articles. I don’t get comments and feedback. I’m promoting digital marketing and comments are very essential to me. Please someone take a glimpse and give me feedback and advise. I will really appreciate it. Thank you in advance

    1. Hi Lio! I’m only a month into my blog so take all of this with a grain of salt. I’ve given your blog a follow because I’m interested to see what you will be sharing. But, you were concerned about no one leaving feedback and I think it is partly because while reading it I found nothing to comment about – meaning, there were no questions for readers to answer or debate about and since I know nothing about digital marketing I couldn’t think of anything to comment. I think you have done a great job at setting the tone for what your bog is about and expect that you will start getting feedback as you go further into your topics.

  5. I would really appreciate some thoughts on this poem. It’s something slightly different to my usual stuff and I’m pretty proud of some of the writing, as it seemed to come from no where. Some of it is pretty forceful so it’s not for the faint hearted but every word is calculated, I don’t swear lightly 😀

  6. Good whatever-time-it-is-in-your-country. So I haven’t been visiting the Pool since the last few weeks, but well, today I used my study-break to come back.
Anyway, my blog’s basically everything writing- poetry, flash fiction, serialized stories, humorous parodies of famous poems, dialogues between me and my brain- you name it. I’m more of a long-fiction kind of person, but I’ve tried my hand at 100-word stories a couple of times, the most recent one being https://magicquill17.wordpress.com/2017/09/03/911-a-100-word-story/
Feel free to explore the rest of my blog as well. Here’s the link for your convenience- https://magicquill17.wordpress.com/
Any kind of feedback would be greatly appreciated 🙂
    Cheers!

    1. I like your points in Reality Check. I noticed a few typo/grammar things. For instance, “lets not distant ourselves” should be, “let’s not distance ourselves.” When you include a link for us in the pool, to get it to hyperlink, you’ll need to put https:// in front of it. https://gracelead.co

    1. Hi, I read your blog and I couldn’t agree more. I was recently unwell (vomiting virus) and had to ask for some help with the kids that I fell very fortunate to have. We all need help at times and sometimes our kids will respond better to other people in our lives better and that is ok 🙂 I would have liked to have left a comment on your blog but I couldn’t find the option?

      1. Relaxing indeed. Peaceful is the word most visitor use to describe the atmosphere at our farm. I suspect much of that is because we have no house on the property so people are somewhat forced to enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoors. Thanks for reading.

    1. That was such beautiful post. Often in our so busy lives, we forget to cherish and just be with those we care for.We all want to be back home and cherish those moments with our loved ones, and you just described those feelings so eloquently and nicely. 🙂

P.S.: If you have time, do check my posts as well. I hope you like them and share your thoughts with me about them.

      1. Thank you. Yes, we often forget and then they themselves with their mere acts of affection towards us makes is realize to what we have been missing, silently. We must cherish them as often as we can. For most of the times, they are the reasons we are alive.
I will definitely read yours too and get back to you.

  11. Hi Everyone! My name is Frank and you can visit my mostly observational humor blog at http://www.letmebefrankwithyou.com. I have nearly 200 blog entries posted there, mostly they’re 3-4 paragraph entries. I need to work on organization/categorization but I’d like to invite you to stop by the blog, read until you’re tired of reading and let me know what you think! Also, I’m trying to figure out a way to uniquely promote the blogs of others who I read regularly. I’d like to promote them on my blog but I’m not sure that would be so impactful due to the fact that I only have around 600 subscribers and less than 10000 hits. If you have any ideas on how we might be able to promote each other, I’m all ears. Thanks in advance and let me know if you’d like for me to issue my unqualified opinion of your blog. Take care! Frank

    1. Regarding promotion, I read few posts about award nomination and such in a blog Shining Gem. I thought it’s a nice way to not only promote each other but it would also give the new bloggers a platform, and a way to encourage and connect with others and form stronger bonds.

      1. I’ll see if I can find that blog. I have shied away in the past from the “award” blogs because I detected an insincerity about it. I should probably be less cynical about that and give it a chance before I just dismiss it as something in which I’m not going to participate. Thanks for the suggestion!

      2. No problem. I was busy with my college for a few days, and could not post the link to the blog before, but since the Blogger in question Shining Gem has already replied, you could discuss more about it with him. Your perspective is not wrong exactly, there might be some truth to it. But it’s not right to paint the whole situation black, but rather take an initiative to do something good out of it, something positive, maybe you can make a change. I am glad, I could motivate you to give it a chance. 🙂

      3. Yup I liked the idea, but didn’t knew much about it. And also haven’t read much yet to use it effectively, surely some others can benefit from it and use these awards effectively for not only the established bloggers, but for newbies as well. Although I have an idea for new bloggers which I would love to discuss with interested people and long time bloggers, so if anyone is interested please contact me. 🙂
