Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

The Community Pool will be closed for maintenance next week (September 11) — we’ll see you again the following Monday (September 18)!

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hi there. I am single adopter writing about our family struggles. I find it really helpful to be able to blog about our life anonymously. I get some lovely support too. Could I ask if you could have a look to let me know if my style is right to tell our story? I want to show the true struggles of adoption for us, how my twos early life still affects them. Here’s the latest update. Thank you

    1. I think your style is good for what you are trying to do. Your style has a unique feel that drew me into the story. One thing to consider is your tags and categories. The WordPress Reader will only include posts with 15 or fewer Tags+Categories. I suspect some search engines also reject posts with numerous tags. https://gracelead.co

  2. Happy Labor Day everybody. Here is a link to my latest post on my music blog. Decided to keep it short this week. I’m sharing a Labor Day playlist that’s full of tons of essential rock tunes. The playlist is a courtesy of Maxton Schulte, solo artist and lead singer/guitarist for Santa Barbara psych-rock band, The Shorelines. I recently interviewed Maxton and his band mate Justin about their new album and I’m looking forward to sharing our conversation with everybody soon. Check out The Shorelines now and here is the post!

      1. Thanks for checking it out! I read your most recent post and really enjoyed it as well. I also really like the aesthetic of your site. Simple but impressive. Which template do you use?

      1. Thanks, Brilliant. I’m already seeing progress with this approach. It’s very much worth it.
I have followed you as well. Interesting to see the perspective of someone who didn’t know all of the history behind McDonald’s.

  3. Hi everyone! I started my blog this past summer–it is a simple site dedicated to literature lovers where I post excerpts from novels as well as poems. It focuses on writing that correlates with emotions and sensations that are oftentimes not easily articulated. My blog is simply a place for leisurely reading and enjoyment of good writing as well as for inspiration.
I would love it if you check it out and leave some comments!

  4. This week I summoned the courage to let go and post pictures that are very personal to me. I have also decided not to concentrate on the posts that get the most views. I feel that I have freed myself somehow.  Anyway, I just wanted to say that if any of you are holding back or not writing what you want to but what you think you should, trust in and be yourself. I have realised that a lot of other people are never going to care about what I have to say, even though I find it interesting or get excited about it … and that’s okay.  Writing and reading your blogs makes me happy.  That’s enough.  Happy Happy blogging people.

    1. I liked your post about reflecting on your box of photos. Looking through a box like that does stir up memories. I’ve done a few scrapbooks where I add some journaling. Years from now, those few words can help set the context, especially for people who weren’t there at the time of the photo. https://gracelead.co

  5. This is my first attempt at a blog (unless anyone remembers the era of Xanga). While I don’t have much in the way of content, I would like to invite you over for an “open house” and encourage you to share your impressions and critiques, along with any obvious items I may have neglected or overlooked. Thank you! https://jordonzach.wordpress.com

    1. While I am not a cat or horse lover, I enjoyed looking at your Blog. You’ve got some nice looking horse products. Might I make a suggestion that you “shorten” the write ups for your products. One day you might have a larger catalog of products and the write ups you have right now are very long to read (for me anyhow). I wanted to quickly scan the photos of products, see what I might like and then read about it. LOVED the horse beer mug! Wish you luck with sales! http://www.brilliantviewpoint.com

  6. Happy Monday all! I run a Gaming and Geek blog! I just started a new series called Memoirs of a Villain. It’s a fan fiction type of post where each week on Sundays a guest Villain will write a short memoir or journal entry. I would love feedback and also recommendations on different Villains to write about! Here’s the latest post from Sesshomaru from Inuyasha:

If you enjoy the posts, feel free to check out The Joker’s Memoir as well!

    Have a great day!

    1. There’s a lot of ways to make your blog popular, you’ve already made a step in the right direction by posting on the Community Pool, but to maximise the benefits you need to engage with other bloggers, give feedback and check out other blogs. Leave a like or a comment on the posts you actually enjoyed and if needs be, give constructive criticism.
I’ve got a whole blog post on how you can increase blog traffic https://whenlifeawakens.wordpress.com/2017/08/19/100-followers-blogging-tips-tricks-beaboss-series/

      I hope this was useful!!

      1. I think so as there were a few likes on it already. I can see it on my reader on the mobile app at least. But thanks for the compliment! And I also love your series on British coloquilisms!

    1. It sure does take courage to pursue what you’d like in life. Usually what we’d like to do does not make enough money to support ourselves, so we put our passion on the side. Good reminder to “try” and be courageous, we might just follow our passions and “make it work!” Isn’t that what Tim Gunn from Project Runway says, “Make it Work!” http://www.brilliantviewpoint.com

    2. I can completely relate to the square peg, round hole idea. My job of 15 years is ending later this month when my division closes it’s doors. Other people are already finding jobs and ready to move on but here I sit, not really know what I want to do next. I started my blog in early July, hoping to turn it into a full-time income someday, but I know lots of people are assuming that it’ll never happen. I sure hope to prove them wrong. 🙂 http://www.lazysundaysblog.com

  7. Hello People,

I am a design engineer with a blog relating to whatever I experience in my life. Whether it’s a feeling, an awesome moment, a thought or something I’m going through which is painful, happy etc. The main driver of my blog is that I overthink things a lot. So I guess that’s that. See you there?

      1. That is actually the walls before I painted them😂 they were really damaged which is something that doesn’t show up in the pictures. Now it is a pastel blue – I left a link for it in my post.
Appreciate your comment as well. Thank you for the support!
