Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

      2. thanks a lot for this. Yeah I know. But still every rejection is a dagger to my heart – i got one yesterday. I hate sundays they always bring those rejections. But you are right. The other day i was reading something similar it ran along the lines that writers should aim for 100 rejections a years.

      3. Ah, yes! Well, I’ve received a few rejections myself for a children’s picture book. BUT it could mean I am not sending my book to the right type of publisher/agent. Thanks for the humorous goal of 100 rejections to strive for, yikes, I’ve got to submit some more! 🙂

      1. Hi thanks for the comment. I think the ‘my’ in my original comment is misleading. Actually my wife draws while I write. So no I didn’t draw it, its her work. We both run the blog though.

      1. You had a good message on following the crowd. I liked your article, might I suggest not using as many of the moving photos. As a reader, while it can be amusing, it is also distracting. I LOVED, just LOVED the one of the monkey as your starting one… that spot on and very funny. Reminded me of Curious George who is always getting into trouble. Keep sharing! https://brilliantviewpoint.com/2017/08/28/self-help-elf-help-books-indiana-ireland/

  1. Hey, so I recently ramped up my production to one a day, just for the month to see if I can. I’ve noticed diminishing returns but especially on this post.

    Changing the Time

What’s wrong with it? Is it the title? It seems to have really underperformed but it’s a very interesting topic, imo.

    Any help appreciated

  2. Hello my dear bloggers.

Its exactly 2 months since I started being active in wordpress family and in the world of blogging. I did a total of 23 posts as of now, trying to improve in my way of writing and to bring new ideas. I started as a nature lover and now started with travelogues too. I will be honoured if you all can spend a little of your precious time to check out my blog and I would love to get feedbacks, criticisms and advices. Thank you so much. Wish you all a great day ahead.

  3. Hey everybody,

I wanted to share my latest piece – a few weeks ago marked hip-hop’s 44th birthday. I saw an ironic correlation between the anniversary and our most recent President, Mr. Barack Obama. I wrote about how his presidency represents the bigger picture of just how dominant hip-hop culture is today in our society. No politics, just music/culture talk. It’s more of a reflection than an analysis.

Anyways, hope you guys enjoy. Please let me know your thoughts!

  4. I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out my poem, “Riverside Junkies.” I wrote this one within the last few weeks, and like so many, there’s depth below the surface. It’s real life from days gone by, black and white images for a world of color. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page, and click the like button on the post page. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

  5. Hello everyone! I need your help in giving our new about page some feedback. I’d really appreciate it. The link is just below.

I’ve been blogging sporadically for a couple of years and then I introduced my husband to the world of blogging and now we’ve made it a goal (and added it on to our kinds of dates) to blog together a couple of weeks ago.

It’s hard enough trying to make an about page for you but moreso if the blog involves two co-authors. We’re trying to find a niche together while at the same time documenting our journey. Does the layout make sense? Any typos I haven’t spotted? Any feedback on the design and text would be very helpful for us.

    Thank you very much!

      1. Thank you! I just checked out your blog and I am hooked! My husband and I are in the middle of planning (strong emphasis on the planning for now) a halloween party/house warming party and we’re gonna try your stuff out!

    1. Super cute concept! I love that you two are enjoying blogging together. Whenever I can get my boyfriend to proofread something I’ve written it makes it even more special to post. Best of luck to the both of you!

      1. Thank you for the feedback Barbara and your best wishes! Sometimes I’m very critical with what I make I end up at a standstill especially in blogging.

Your comment has boosted my confidence in the both of us moving forward with it.

  6. I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out a personal piece, “Life & Stuff III: End of Work Probation & Health Insurance.” I don’t do a lot of those, but when I do there’s some major events going in my life. This one’s pretty important, and I’m pleased with the way things are going as of late. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page, and click the like button on the post page. 7. Hey every one, I am an author who is writing a book on wordpress, It’s about the struggles of life as told by a veteran who happens to struggle with addiction, orientation issues, and life clutter. Not really your average read, but either way, super nervous about it, and would love your input.

  8. The Star Blogger Award voting will be held later this week (Thursday), so today I wanted to put focus back on my motivational post:

    http://howtoaddict.com/stop-distracting-yourself-dont-waste-your-life-motivation/

With regular schedule these posts seem to be getting great response. I have been thinking about how I can expand on that and provide even more to readers. What often comes to mind is to maybe take questions on motivation and answer them. But that takes willing audience. Plus, I would need to expand on why I am the right person to answer motivational questions… not sure if I can tell people something like: “check my About page, then come back”.

Curious to hear what you, fellow bloggers, think. So, please let me know – how would you expand on this motivational series of mine? Or, do you have any question on it that I can answer here?

  9. I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out my poem of the week, “Before the Clouds Turned Dark and Gray.” I wrote this one within the last few weeks, and like so many, there’s depth below the surface. There’s a lot here, maybe more for the beautifully depressed, but everyone can take from it and enjoy. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page, and click the like button on the post page. 11. Ok guys. I need like 3 people in this pool that get up to 500 daily views? I have a health blog and I can write a guest post for you and link it to my blog or you can do a link round-up of your favorite WordPress blogs/posts and include mine. I’ll return the favor once I get a mix of different blog subscriptions so you can get fresh followers to your content. It’s going to be like a community of blogs promoting each other.
