Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I love Christopher Nolan as a director, I always look forward to his work and get excited when it’s released. Memento is one of my favorite movies. Being that not just your average movie but put together so well that it all makes sense. I really enjoyed your read and agree with the movies listed. Props for the pic sitting on the throne. Haha. If you get a second could you check out some of my posts and let me know what you think? I’d really appreciate it. Thanks https://bloggerinablogworld.com/

  1. Happy Monday swimmers,
Going on 5 months blogging after logging 17,000+ miles, and now it’s time to swim out to the deep end of the Community Pool. Also just passed my 3 GB storage allowance, so I’ve made a commitment to continue onto the personal plan. So the link below will carry you to my last Canadian post on the basic plan. Hereafter, I may experiment with video and/or another WordPress theme. Time will tell, as it’s conditional on my limited access to wifi while on the road.
    Join the conversation.
Would love to hear from you.
    Happy reading/blogging

P.S. I’ve just been tapped as an editor’s choice, for which I’m very proud! Look for it soon.

    1. I’m liking your blog so far. I’d definitely recommend adding a feature photo to each of your postings. This is what catches peoples eyes and brings them to read your awesome work. My eyes instantly went to your “Lazy Days” post. That’s as many weekends out of the year for me that I can muster. After working all week I enjoy just taking my time and doing stuff just whenever instead of a schedule. Keep up the great writings and the positive outlook. If you have a second can you check out some of my writings and let me know what you think? I’d really appreciate it. Thanks! https://bloggerinablogworld.com/

    1. Without sounding offensive or rude, I believe this pool is about people offering support and guidance to people who are asking for it. If people like your content on your blog they will follow you. Pushing people to follow you I’m sure isn’t what this pool is about, hence the word “community”. Reading through everyone’s advice and guidance and looking through blogs I’ve seen you posting several times. Just relax, it’s not about numbers! 🙂

      1. This is absolutely true. Growing a readership takes a lot of time and effort. The 80/20 rule is a good one to adopt. Spend 80% of your time on other blogs and only 20% on your own. You have to invest in the communities you wish to influence. Give people a REASON to follow your blog. It’s not all about content, it’s about building relationships.

    1. I really enjoyed your poem. I closed my eyes after reading and pictured everything you were saying. The very last line pulled everything together so well and definitely brought in a sense of nostalgia. I also liked that you used a GIF for your cover photo. It made your poem stand out more in my mind. Thanks for the share and keep up the great writing. If you have a second could you check out some of my writings and let me know what you think? I’d really appreciate it. Thanks! https://bloggerinablogworld.com/

    1. This was such a cool post. I loved reading about your visit to the temple. The added bonus of the video was really nice as well. Pictures are great but sometimes adding a video can really draw people in. I can’t wait to see more of your trip and the adventures you take while in Thailand. What made you choose Thailand as your destination? I also really like your tagline it’s uplifting, inspiring and a great reminder. I know you’re busy on your trip but if you have a second could you check out some of my writings and let me know what you think? I’d really appreciate it. Thanks. https://bloggerinablogworld.com/

  4. So, I’m reading your comments, Community Pool, and I have to say there’s some really awesome newbies out there!

Y’all, don’t get discouraged and keep at it! If you need any advice or tips, please let me know. (I’m on my second blog)

You’re doing a great job. I’ve been impressed so much today and none of you are blogging the same things which is refreshing!

    1. I just checked out your blog and I’m liking the vibe of it. I’m a huge NFL fan and was excited to see you have a section dedicated to football. I would suggest adding a featured pic to your post and maybe a video from time to time to draw the eye of the reader in more but overall your site is looking awesome. I’m definitely going to follow and see the info you have to say on sports. Keep up the great work! 😀

  5. Hello fellow bloggers! I am late to the pool again which makes me sad because this is definitely what I look forward to in the blogging world. Interacting with other bloggers and growing as a community is amazing. I recently wrote a poem and I’d love to know everyone’s take on it https://bloggerinablogworld.com/2017/08/13/toxicity-poetry/ If you’d like to poke around my site I’d definitely appreciate any feedback or thoughts! I can’t wait to see what all the other bloggers are sharing and find new blogs to follow. 😀

    1. This was a wonderful post. I had a run in with a turtle too. Same thing, he was on the side of the road and I couldn’t bare the thought of leaving him there thinking he might get run over. So, like you, I got out of the car and proceeded to help him to his destination. Luckily, he went inside his shell and didn’t create a fuss. You are right, sometimes we can ALL be stubborn like the turtle – clever analogy! Very amusing. http://www.brilliantviewpoint.com

    1. Hi! I left a comment. 🙂 As to advice, perhaps you could address the punctuation some (when to use semicolon versus colon, putting periods inside quotation marks, etc.).

    1. Well… not sure what to say here. I went to your blog and you are asking us to give you ideas on what to draw. It’s your Blog. What do YOU like to draw? If you are doing comic pages, do you have a story line? You can draw pictures for the story. How about this… have a scuba diver finding a sunken treasure with LOTS of gold in it. Then have a shark that is coming… and then have another fish SAVE the scuba diver. Just a thought.

    1. Great start. I didn’t see a LIKE for your post. You might want to add a LIKE button. Regarding your About page, I would change the format and put your text in paragraph form, so that it reads like a story, rather than a job application. GREAT sharing of fashion photos. Love the Gucci mules, a bit pricey, but they looked super cozy. OH, on the right of your HOME screen there is a TEXT WIDGET that either needs text or you should delete it. You could have an option for people to Follow you via email. Look forward to more fashion ideas. http://www.brilliantviewpoint.com

      1. I”m not the best at explaining HOW to find where the LIKE button is, but if you fiddle around with things, looking through your settings, you will find where the LIKE button, GOOGLE buttons, etc. are and you can decide which ones you want to use. You can do it! 🙂
