To find, copy, and paste your link:

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Spectacular book reviews, really love all the details that you have divulged in your book reviews, and you occasionally post some poems here and there, it is very nice. A little tip, you can put the first line of the book of a book in your book review. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!

    1. Loving the style of your blog, it is very nice, and very well done. Really love the writings that you provide on your blog, they are filled with veracity. Little footnote, there is a text widget at the top right of your blog, it can be edited by pressing the customise button on your blog. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!

    2. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

Really love the style of your writings, and the theme that you have chosen for your blog. Little tips, you can add the first line of the book into your reviews, it would be nice. 1. Thankyou so much for your kind words! Really appreciate the tip, but most of the first liners are so boring and they gradually pick up pace! But I can consider adding quotes or stuff from the book, right?

    1. Welcome to the blogging community! Loving the style that you have on your posts, they are very enlightening, and very insightful. A quick tip, tune up the lights on your photos, they are quite dark, being a foodie blog means that you pictures must be top-notch in order to capture completely the attention of the readers. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!

    3. Welcome 🙂

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s sidebar, over to the right of your posts — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

      1. Hi Michelle,
Thank you for your welcome & assistance. I thought I’d removed the text but damn apparently not, grrrrr! I’m using an iPhone so hopefully I’ll be able to sort this out. I’ll give it a shot

      2. It’s one of the things that’s a little trickier on a phone; if you’re using the app, try just logging into WordPress.com in your phone’s web browser instead.

  2. Hello! This is my second attempt at blogging on WP after an extended absence. Ugh, my first post is poem, which is not what I would have chosen to share first! But – rules are rules, so here’s the link:
    https://midnightsage.com/2017/07/15/this-too-will-pass/

There’s only a few posts so far, but you’re welcome to read what’s there. I’m currently working on a “real” 🙄 blog post, but might not finish until tomorrow.

Thanks for this opportunity and I’m off to read some your blogs right now 🙂

    1. I really enjoyed your piece. I grew up listening to older rock (what my parents played) then when grunge took the scene I fell in love. I feel like grunge fused into Alt-Rock which is another top genre for me. As for Pop Rock, I don’t mind it but it makes me sad that it feels all music is turning into that instead of having a voice of it’s own. I can’t wait to see more from you both!

    1. I really like that you shared an older poem and explained where you were at in your life when you wrote it. I have a few old poems that I haven’t shared yet and your post inspired me to look over them again. Honestly, your post wasn’t a downer to me. I appreciated you showing a part of yourself right away. Also, just what I learnt is if you set a featured photo when post people tend to view it more often. I definitely can’t wait to see more from you! Keep them coming 😀

  3. A Change In the Plans – Life With Kat and Cal

    A Change In the Plans

Hey everyone! This is technically my second post but it’s my “first” in terms of the direction I’m taking the blog now! My boyfriend of two years was paralyzed from the waist down in February and we want to share our journey with everyone. Please let me know how I can make it better!

    1. Your post made my heart drop for you when you received the phone call. I can’t even imagine, I’m glad he survived. I love the picture you chose as your cover pic definitely draws me in and I want to read more. I think it’s great you are going to blog about your journey together through life. I want to be right there with you guys, reading along and sharing my support. I would suggest adding a menu, it will make it easier to navigate for readers once you post more. I wish I would have done mine sooner. Good luck to both of you!

      1. Thank you for the input! It should have a menu that has Home, About, and Contact Us, but I need to figure it out if it’s not showing up! We want to provide the most honest look into our life together after the accident and how things are different and the same, at the same time.

    1. I love the picture you chose to represent your poem, definitely eye catching and mood setting. I enjoyed the push and pull of your poem, who you are compared to who “they” wanted you to be. The struggle we all face daily and I’m glad it ended with walking away. And to your commencement, I was the same way, I used to write all the time but only share with a handful of people. I finally made this blog and decided to put my writings out to the world. I will only grow from it. Keep up the great work! Looking awesome so far 😀

    1. Hey, nice layout of the blog. I love your post. I would suggest adding a read more button and previews for your posts. That way browsers wont have to scroll through an entire post to get to the next one. Keep writing 🙂 good luck

If you want to share your posts with the world, you can click “my site” in the top left corner, then “settings” to adjust your site’s privacy level. Good luck! ❤
