If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Is it too late to join in on First Friday? My first post can be found below, posted on Thursday, August 3rd. (I’m very green! 🌱 Please hit me with your constructive criticism. Over time I plan to get into my experiences with long-distance relationships, hodgepodge families, DIY, place and product reviews, and traveling!)

I’ll be checking out as many of my fellow newbies as I can get to! 💞 This is a fab opportunity.

  2. Hello I love reading blogs as well as writing
I just post my first blog yesterday and trying to get the whole feel of it. I’m very excited because blogging has been something I wanted to do for years now. But I’m finally here and look forward to connecting with mind like people

    1. Welcome 🙂

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s sidebar, over to the right of your posts — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

  4. Hello everyone, I just started my blog and I’m just one post old. I like writing poetry and am a weird mix of a realist and dreamer. And my first post is about my grandfather, who is my favourite human being. So, i hope you like my effort. And in case you don’t, well, I’ll try to do better next time. Here’s the link:

  5. Hi Everyone.

I am new to the blogging scene and still finding my feet. I have 2 posts so far, the first being an introduction, and would be interested to know what others think of the direction I am headed.

I have personal and professional experience of mental health and wellbeing, and I would really like this blog to normalise daily stressors and provide readers with a different perspective on things to try and manage these stressors more positively.

As my introduction states, I want my blog to inspire, motivate and guide others toward a happier existance. Fingers crossed that is what it will do.

I look forward to reading your comments and constructive critism.

  6. Hello dear bloggers!
I started blogging about my creative processes, fashion projects, everyday inspirations and personal stories a month ago! My page is set up as a blog and online portfolio – i have done alot of fashion designing and want to grow my presence online and hopefully be able to inspire others with my projects!
I would LOVE some feedback on the page, and on the blog since I am totally new at this!

    1. Did you kow — if you’re using a custom header/logo, like the one you’ve added, you can hide the site title that shows up normally, so you don’t have a double title. (And since your title is getting cut off anyway, it’d look a little better.) To do that, go to My Site > Customize > Site Identity and uncheck the box next to “Display site title and tagline.”

    1. Looks good so far! Although I would recommend going to themes and then customize and adding in a site title. (Right now it only says “Site Title” rather than “Winged Soul” or “Winged Soul Blog”.) Keep up the good work! 🙂

      1. Well, there isn’t exactly one theme that is the absolute best, you know what I mean? It all depends on what you want to do with your blog. Go to https://wordpress.com/themes/free for free themes that are available for you to use. From there, to narrow your results, you can search for specific things under feature, layout, column, subject, and style. Say, for instance, you want multiple menus. Then go to feature > show more > multiple menus. Layout is also important based on your personal preferences. Going to subject can help you find themes that fit other blogs like yours. For instance, you might want to look under the “blog” category. Also, when picking a theme, notice what you can add. Does it support widgets? (Widgets are things like adding additional text to the side of your blog, a follow by e-mail button, etc.) Does it have a featured post option? Can you customize the background? And the list goes on. Good luck and ask any questions if you have any!

  8. Hello, I joined wordpress about a week and a half ago. My first post is a piece I wrote in a few hours. With revisions coming later of course. I would love some feed back about weather or not it makes sense, flow etc… I’ve just started declaring my voice and am new to blogging, but I feel I am in the right place. Thanks so much! I look forward to any feedback and reading other new bloggers posts!

    1. YES! We may not be able to control the situation, but we can however control the reactions we give. It is possible to see the small positive outcomes from such a negative situation.

Was a good read! A lot of what you were saying was all too relatable, keep it up!
