Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I just read your short story Take Chisholm and really enjoyed it! I really liked how easily your dialog flowed and laughed at the joke about “Cemetery Street.” It reminds me of something that could be on the twilight zone, which is one of my favorite shows. Keep up the great writing! If you have a second could you check out some of my writings and let me know what you think? I’d really appreciate it. Thanks! 😀 https://bloggerinablogworld.com/

      1. Thanks! Yes Twilight Zone is one of my all time favourites too. I had a look at your blog and your poems are really good. I especially liked the ‘ode to writer’s block’. And of course, it’s always nice to come across a fellow GoT fan 😁

    1. Thanks for the article on Galway. I’m heading to Dublin in August and am planning a day trip to Galway. You also have some other great article. Appreciated the post on people who have been successful later in life. So true, age does not determine when you can be successful. Look forward to more articles on your blog. http://www.brilliantviewpoint.com

    1. I really like your tagline and your background picture it really draws the eye and makes you want to explore more. I read your poem, “Being an Introvert” and I really enjoyed it. The way you express yourself and the criticisms you have to face when no one takes a minute to put themselves in your shoes. There’s a powerful message here and I hope a lot of people read it and take it in. I followed you because I look forward to reading more. If you have a second could you take a look at some of my writings and let me know what you think? I’d really appreciate it. Thanks! 😀 https://bloggerinablogworld.com/

    1. That was a fun story. My favorite line was, “But maybe if we wait long enough Virginia will annex it and solve the problem for us.” I’ve never seen anyone carry the license plate game to the extreme you did. For some reason, that makes me fond of the two of you. I’m unsure why. 🙂 https://gracelead.co

  2. Hello friends and fellow Bloggers,

Also, I’m feeling honored & humbled to have received nominations for 3 separate Blogger awards over the weekend, so if you have time, please check a few of my other posts if you have the time.

    1. Hey, I liked the topics of some of your blog pieces, especially the female sniper, and the pictures you use are visually striking. If I was going to suggest any constructive criticism, I think I would suggest making your landing page a little bit more exciting, it’s quite impersonal and if I stumbled upon it I’d be unsure what the theme/genre the blog would be, and might not necessarily go onto the blog pages to find out (so many blogs, so little time and all that). A little colour and some of those cool pictures would go along way. Happy blogging, I’m a total newbie too, my blog is http://www.thecamouflagewife.wordpress.com if you have any ideas for me too 🙂

  3. Hey fellow bloggers.
So I’ve recently decided to switch up my blog a bit. I’m a lifestyle/motivational blogger.. but this time round, I decided to dive into my creativity side and come up with a short story which has been fuelled by recent events in my life.

I would really appreciate some feedback as this is completely out of my comfort zone for me. Would appreciate some feedback (little secret.. I have no idea how I’m going to write part 2.. any advice welcome)

    1. You are a really good writer! I can tell you are writing from your heart! I find it really helpful to include pictures or photos in your posts. I learned that having a picture at the top of my post will say a lot about what the post will contain. Good job and welcome to the blogosphere! Cher xo

    1. This was a great post. I love to go out to eat but the portions are always so large. I usually do end up taking about half of my meal home. I feel like society taught us to clear our plates so I always feel guilty when I can’t finish my food. Thank you for your insights!

      1. Only one, is there a way to follow you on WordPress or is there only the email option?

If there is a way to follow you on WordPress, I could suggest making it more visible. Overall, your page is easy to navigate and eye-catching. You’re doing a great job!

    1. I really enjoyed your poem! I speaks to the frustrations of feeling someway but knowing you shouldn’t. It’s hard to shut feelings like that off. Congrats the new co-author! That is so cool. Which means more posts right? (even better!!) If you have a second could you check out some of my writings and let me know what you think? I’d really appreciate it! I’m still learning too, which is great that we are apart of this community because there’s so many people willing to give advice and help out. I don’t blame you for skipping it- I would too. I write a warning at the beginning of those posts so I don’t spoil anything for anyone. Well, both of you keep up the great work, you got this! 😀

    1. I love your blog name! Sunny with a chance of misery so awesome. I read your post and I agree it sucks when people change or don’t put the effort in like they used to in staying a part of our lives. I feel like people get selfish (sometimes without realizing it) that they are so focused on themselves that they forget to think about others outside of them. Also, people come and go from out lives for reasons. Mostly lessons to be learned and to help you grow as a person and individual. I really enjoyed your share! Keep up the great work. If you have a second could you check out some of my writings and let me know what you think I’d really appreciate it. Thanks! 😀 https://bloggerinablogworld.com/

      1. Thank you! Also, thank you for taking your time out to leave a comment. One day I was sitting on my couch and I was like “You know what? I’m going to make a blog… I have the perfect name.” Isn’t weird how some things just work out? Friendships, careers, life… anyways, I will definitely give your blog a read and some insights I have.

    1. I really enjoyed reading your post. Your layout is welcoming and made me want to learn more about you. You’re poem “When thing’s aint right I need you” was lovely. It speaks to my soul and the part of me that realize there’s more to this world than just me, my struggles aren’t just my own. Thank you for sharing your great work and keep it up. 5. Hey y’all,

Here is the next portion of the first Episode of the series I have been working on. The story is a Shonen (manga) inspired tale revolving around a young girl and her struggles along the road of training to become a full fledged member of her people’s warrior caste.

I have broken the first episode into portions that I feel are more managable and enjoyable to read (instead of sitting through some eight thousands words). Let me know what you think:

    Chapter One – Episode One.3

And as always: keep on keepin’ on, and stay true. =]
