Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. This is a really sweet and inspiring post and the image used too is aesthetically pleasing. I’m not sure whether you have an About page or something similar because I was unable to find it. If you don’t consider making one so readers know more about you. I like that you’ve used tabs to separate the different topics that you write about.
      Hope this was useful!!

  1. Hey lovely writing community 🙂

I have been absent from WordPress for a few months. Not because I was tired of blogging – I love this community and it is always so rewarding to share my work and receive feedback. I stopped blogging daily, because I was run over by a car and after it – I am completely recovered now, don’t worry 🙂 – I just needed to catch up on work and get my life reorganised. The accident made me realise how short life could be, and how precious it is too.

I’ve started blogging regularly again a few weeks ago. Understandably I have lost some of my readers in my silent gap. The energy is still there though, I am very thankful for that, and it is so nice to be back.

I would love to have your feedback on my blog and hear your suggestions. It is high time to do a bit of evaluating, as it is about eighteen months old now, so there are lots of posts to browse through.

My blog is made up of pictures associated with words. I capture all of the pictures on the blog and write all the words. Those words are mostly poems and paragraphs -excerpts of stories I create. I believe in humanity. I believe in self-empowerment, in positive, constructive change and in making the world around us a better place touch by touch. I try to share as much positivity as I can through my blog posts and hope my words will connect with readers and offer them to share heartfelt emotions, and spread strength and positivity in the world.

I would appreciate your feedback very very much ❤

    Much love,

    Hailie.

    1. This is such a beautiful message that you’re conveying about the type of blog you’ve created and the content that you produce. I like the positivity that shows and your strength after having a traumatic experience,
In terms of your blog, the layout is beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, your About page is strong and also conveys a lot of meaning. The individual posts that you’ve produced are incredibly inspiring and expressive.
      Hope this is useful!!

      1. Thank you so much for your lovely feedback! I am honoured and touched by so much appreciation. It warms my heart ❤ Thank you. I am checking out your blog and loving the picture on the about page. It is very modern and brings a fabulous touch to your about page. Your blogposts are nice to read and insightful.

    1. I quite like the theme. My only suggestion might be to reorganize your sidebar widgets. If I were you, I’d move the search bar, subscribe, and social widgets to the top because those are the things people will probably want to see most. Adding a categories widget is also a really good idea.

I’m not sure if you’ve made any pages, but generally having a contact page and bio page are good ideas. If you need help creating them, just let me know.

    2. I like the look of your site. I think the Search widget, recent posts, and archive will be helpful to visitors. One thing I didn’t see was an About page. Some of us go to an About page to see the purpose of a site and get an idea of what to expect on the site. https://gracelead.co

  2. Hello! Brand New blogger here! (literally day 2) any help/advice would be appreciated! Feel free to reply to this comment or comment on my posts themselves.

    My first blog post https://madisonharner.com/2017/08/04/marmalade/
-This is about my newly adopted cat Marmalade ❤
-Does anyone know if you can embed Instagram posts the way I did but make them smaller so they don't take up the entire page?

    My interests page https://madisonharner.com/interests/
-I wanted to have an interests page because I like finding things in common with people. Please help with the layout. I wish I knew how to make columns in posts. I would like to have a list of interests (like the titles) on the left and the details on the right column. Anyone know how to do that?

    1. Regarding columns: Some themes allow you to insert a table. If yours doesn’t, you could create a table of your information in software such as Pages or Word. You could then export it as a jpg file, upload the jpg to your media folder, and insert it into your post. https://gracelead.co

  3. Hey Family: I’m looking to gain some insight in regards to the look and feel of my site. Please don’t hold back. I encourage everyone to be honest. I would also appreciate all feed back on the two links below. I’m trying something new and I’d like to hear from you as to if I hit this or did I miss it.
