Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Hello! I got a chance to read your blog and I have a some suggestions. I see potential here in the content. Also your About Page still has the default text so I would consider editing that so readers have a better idea of what your website is about.

    1. Hi there! I think your format is fine as is. If you want to make a change consider adding more categories for blog posts so that if readers want something specific they can click on that category.

  4. Hello laddies, me again. In my latest post, I have explored a topic which people generally don’t want to talk about : Euthanasia. I would love to know your views on the topic, and what you think of my opinion. Please suggest if there is any room for improvement. I’ll be sure to return the favor and check out your posts too. 5. Hi all! Together Tuesday is back. Ever stop to think how much of your life is spent arguing with your spouse?

Read: “Don’t sweat the small stuff!” (2 min read time).

    Excerpt:
Think about how many minutes an argument takes and then how many more hours…or days…or weeks….go by before you both kiss and make up. By the time you “recover,” the initial problem has probably already been forgotten.

    Feedback always appreciated!

    1. Hello Nick,

First thoughts upon visiting your site:

I really enjoy the use of the slider at the top to showcase your posts. I also like the background color as it is easy to work with and calming. Very simple, yet highly functional.

Keep writing! You have some great content as well.

      Cheers!

    1. Hello,

While I wouldn’t refer to myself as a pro, feedback is welcome right?

Upon visiting your site here is my first impression:

I very much enjoy the mountainous photo upon visiting, very serene, very calming. Something I’ve found to be very helpful in regard to posts with a lot of text is inserting a “read more tag.” I frequently insert this tag right after my first paragraph so readers can decide whether or not they want to open the whole article upon reading the first tid-bit, and also leaves room for more of your posts on a long-scroll site like you have.

I enjoy the use of photos as they pertain to your writings well. I also like the fact that your sharing logos are situated at the top of the article vs. at the bottom. You have alot of great content! I think if you categorized it into sections, and then added a widget with your sections it would be easier to find what you want, as a reader.

      Cheers!

      1. Hi Danielle. Thanks so much for these suggestions! I appreciate the feedback. I really like the idea of sections. This is something I have been thinking about as well. Time to get back to designing 🙂 Thanks again!

  7. Hello fellow bloggers,

Check out my latest post titled “The gates of heaven.”
These are the last recorded words of a brilliant man who has done a lot to all people in my country. I’ve translated them to the best of my capacity in pursuit to convey the wonderful wisdom I found therein. I hope you find them as inspiring as I did.

  8. Hello, wonderful WordPress community! Mine is ostensibly a food blog, although there are other things as well. I would love to here your thoughts/feedback. The link I’m including here is for my “recipes” page. Please feel free to check any of them out and let me know what think. Readability, ease of understanding, layout, thoughts on the recipes themselves… any input would be much appreciated!
