Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

      I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s sidebar, over to the right of your posts — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

    1. Use a prompt. One on here from the Daily Prompt or google “blog prompts.” Lot of sites. Also you can merel;y find a quote you like if the block is so bad, but you want to post or a photo with a short caption. You blog is lovely and you post was interesting. All the best to you.

    1. I liked one idea that people are losing their culture and this wont happen, i support your statement, because i also think global commerce and culture shifts traditional values massively.

    2. I really enjoyed your posts. The last line in your, Thursday Throne, post was so true. I believe it’s something every human being should reflect on and be aware of. I took it more in the aspect of my blog/writings but it works through out life as well.

    1. I would go a little further into detail in your posts! you mention that you’ve been building up all these expectations for your cruise, but you don’t say what those expectations were. What were you expecting, when you stepped onto that boat? What did you want to happen? What rom-com told you that cruises would be the place to find “the one”? And so on and so forth.

      On that same note, you also say that you were disappointed with what you found. Why were you disappointed? What about the cruises didn’t meet your expectation? The more information or details you can give, the more people are going to want to read your blog. They want to read a story and something interesting. Ask yourself, “What would I want to know if I were reading this?” and see what you can figure out.

  15. Hi guys! My name is Silk and my blog is all about me, my adventures, my thoughts and opinions as a FlyGirl living in Cleveland. I love to write, I’m also a fashion stylist and a fashion blogger, so I’m not exactly new to blogging, but I am to using the WordPress platform.

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

      3. I did. I love the fact that you that you write random snippets and extracts of what could be a complete story. I used to write like that, a tiny portion of someone’s day somewhere in the world but I didn’t think that they were worth anything as they weren’t complete. Also, your writing is amazing.

Hi there and welcome to the land of blogging! 🙂 I know how immensely frightening blogging can be; I’ve been doing it for three months now and there are days I’m still scared to post; so you are validated in your nerves. But please let me say that your writing is awesome! Your honesty and emotions poured out in your linked post that I had to keep reading. I related in ways of putting off writing and allowing doubt to hinder your abilities. I’m so happy that you pushed through and decided to share. It is a new round of nerves, but I think it’s a good kind. The kind to get you out of your comfort zone and force you to keep writing. Okay, force is a little strong; it should inspire you to keep writing, to want to keep writing. Even when you feel like you’ve got zero inspiring things to write about. Based on your first post, I’d say you’d do great simply writing about the struggle of finding things to write about.

      If you haven’t heard of it yet, check out in the Reader section the WP daily prompt. I’ve only recently discovered this gem. If you’re struggling for inspiration, check out the one word prompt. If that still doesn’t strike your fancy, then do a quick internet search. Don’t force it but also don’t let it keep you from writing. You’ve got a talent.     I am exceedingly happy with having started a blog 2 weeks ago. I feel at peace within myself, getting my inner most thoughts out and actually having people agree or relate or even just enjoy the writing. It feels great! I have never had anyone read my writings before, I was just always too insecure to share.

    A big thank you to the people that take their time to read 🙂 I know I create a different character for each post, but they are in fact me and the things I think about daily. Speaking them has always kind of gotten me into trouble. People are just waiting to squash you with their rebuttal opinions, so lately I’ve just decided to shut up and write it down instead.
