Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hello to all the readers and writers out here!
Sometimes, a strong sensation of sonder rushes through me and
I get lost in the thought. Well don’t you ever wonder how strange yet, beautiful is the fact that each and every one of us is busy with our own complexities. We’re all busy trying to cross the hurdles and obstacles. Check out my post to know more about what I think about this! I would be glad to have feedbacks!

    1. They were great posts. I am sure there are other instances where others have cried on the field. You could have mentioned that too as well.

Love the cat header photo with the tennis ball 🙂

    1. I don’t drive anymore, but I am for Chicago and spent years here driving. This blog is HILARIOUS and I’ve forwarded it to a few friends I thought might like it. Thanks for sharing!

    2. I don’t (know how to) drive but I usually cycle. I find it much more convenient.

I found your post really funny and at the same time these are things ever driver should know about instinctively. Reminds me of the youtube compilation I was watching about Road Rage and Idiot drivers.

    1. I thought this was a super cute way to do the ‘getting to know you’ sort of thing. I especially loved the Chrissey Quiz and the Sass Quiz! I ended up perusing the rest of the blog I enjoyed this post so much. 🙂

    1. This was absolutely lovely to read. So heartfelt and touching. I have two stories to share after reading this. One is an older couple growing up when I was young bequeathed me with a number of old books. We’re talking hard cover editions of Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, and others. I only have the most passing memory of them now. We’re talking probably 1972 or so and I would have only been 4 at that time, but I think about them occasionally and the gift they gave me. The second thought is that big portions of your story remind me of a beautiful song by Ralph McTell called Mr. Connaughton, who was a real person in Ralph’s life when he was young and had the same sort of connection. Try to find it if you can!

      1. You’re welcome. The beautiful thing about it is that it actually had a sort of happy ending. He performed the song for a few years, always telling the story of how this gentle man stuck in his memory, especially after Ralph’s own father had walked out on his family at an early age. So who should come up to him after a show one time but the man’s daughter, who is mentioned in the song. Just great stuff!

    2. Usually I skim read articles. Sometimes, when the article has been crafted perfectly or when there is enough emotions in it, I take my time reading it. Devouring every word.

Yours was one of those articles. Keep blogging like this, I loved it.

Oh your article made me follow you instantly 🙂

    1. Your post about the sea brought back memories for me. Like you, I can’t handle sun bathing at the beach. My experience was in December walking along the Oregon coastline. It was overcast and around 40 degrees with the mist from the ocean blowing in my face. I still remember the beckoning sound of the waves and the blend of smells from the wet sand and water. https://gracelead.co

  2. Hello bloggers, I am a relatively new blogger and I write short and descriptive articles about life and self-improvement. I am hoping for a good response and questions and comments are highly appreciated. Can anybody also suggest a good theme that has a sidebar and a head bar widget option suiting on my website. I hope you like my posts

    1. Hello, still working my way through the playlist, but man, thank you! I enjoyed the sound of “Airborne” particularly some of the noises that sounded like some sort of xylophone. Suggestions to check out for the future Hip Trick and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. I love what you are doing here this is a great way to get exposed to new music.

      1. I haven’t listened to the new King Gizzard yet, but I plan on giving it a good, straight-through listen this week. I’ll probably be including it next time. Not as familiar with Hip Trick, but I’ll look into them. Thanks for listening.

  3. I post mainly poetry on my blog! Recently, I’ve noticed that for some of my poems/posts, there has been less commenting. I really value communication and interactions with readers, and am wondering how I can improve this on my blog?

Here’s the link to the blog:

Also, I’d love feedback on my most recent poem, entitled Solving for Gravity:
