Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. So encouraging to see that multi-faceted blogs are recognized! Love your content and layout! I’m a fairly newish blogger who’s trying to balance my blog’s niches out. I want it to be a place for my creative writing and journal-like entries. I think I’m headed in the right direction, but any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to reading more from you!

      1. Yeah it can be difficult for me sometimes as I can’t advertise my site as well as other people can but you’re right, blogs can be for anything. I’m more than happy to have a look at some of your stuff 🙂

  3. Hi everyone, happy Monday! 🙂

I write about names. A couple days ago I posted the rules (and some of my personal results) for a “name game” where you take the year you were born, find your name’s rank that year, and then find names that ranked the same but in other years! It’s fun, mildly educational, and great for finding baby names or character names! I’d love it if you check it (and my blog) out!

    1. Yay, a fellow name nerd! I don’t have a baby to name but I’m fascinated by names and spend a lot of time on the internet looking up information about them. I enjoy playing name games and I’ll play yours when I get the chance.

    2. This sounds like my kind of game!! In fact, I’ve played something similar but without writing it down. With my own name, family members’ and friends’ names, as well as character names. This is a superb, fun, and kind of relaxing idea. Thanks for taking the time to upload and share, I enjoyed it a lot. All the best with your future blogging! 💫

  4. Hi to other WordPress bloggers – I’m new to running my own website and to WordPress as well, so any feedback on appearance and style would be much appreciated. If you want to check out any of my blogs, so much the better!

    1. As someone else has said, you’ve got a great start here and the site is clear in appearance (which is always a bonus). Keep at it and overtime you’ll see yourself creating your own brand and personal style!

  5. FablerNextDoor is a blog where you can read some short stories with a message, a new one every week. Read it on lazy sunday mornings, on your way to work, over breakfast or with chai at tea time.

It’s the onset of monsoon in India now and that’s why the blog is also about. Hope it appeals to the pluviophile in you!

      1. Never mind, after a second look I found them. Maybe format it that your posts are visible on the homepage, because I found them through the about page.

  7. Hello folks! If all the world were a playground, would life be more exciting and wonderful? Would laughter fill the air and summer skies shine a brighter blue? Or would people live like they would in a dull and mundane greyscale, like they do in this world?

    Here’s what I came up with: https://lampteacupoverthinking.wordpress.com/2017/07/01/carousel/

Do tell me what you think of it. Also, do leave a comment or drop a message. I’d love to get to know you! Thank you, wonderful person.

    Love,

      1. Thank you! I was considering making the recipe more laid out, but wanted to make sure I referenced the original recipe owners and got traffic to their site. I think I can find a way to happily marry both those ideas, though! Thanks for reading! 🙂

      1. My pleasure. I don’t particularly follow photography blogs- I think I follow ONE other one but as I said, this style is very cool 😊

    1. Awesome blog! Will definitely check out the IG page too! I have a photo blog myself so I am always interested in checking out other photo bloggers. Though I am still a beginner, I enjoy the art of photography quite a lot. Thank you for sharing!
