First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Loving the style of your blog, and the way that you bring out your posts. There is a thing called paragraphing, use it, somehow, and it would be better for your writings. Hope to see more from you. Great start. Have hope, write on!

    2. Really nice post, love the way you write it. Only comment on the blog is that your title text isn’t visible over the image you have chosen. I would either change the text colour or replace the image so you can read it.
      Eagerly following along now 😁👍🏻

    1. Haha. Great start. Loving the style of your writings, and the way that you bring out your posts, and your magnificent blogging ideas. There are quite a number of things on your blog that needs to be brushed up, the text widget at the bottom of your page, the little excerpts that are below your writings at the home page, all could be changed by pressing the customise button, or you could edit the excerpt part when you are writing your post, just meddle around and you could change it. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!

  1. Hey everyone!

If you have never been you York then you should definitely put it at the top of your bucket list! I fell in love with the medieval city within 5 minutes of leaving the station!

Hopefully this post will help you plan or inspire you to organise a trip to York! Enjoy!

I’ve only just set up this blog so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    2. Really nice! Not sure whether you did it on purpose but I can’t find a like button on your post (or I would have already pressed it😉). I would suggest to include likes as it is a good way for people to interact when they don’t have a specific comment.
Look forward to what you do next 👍🏻

Any I absolutely appreciate any comments or advice and discussion! But be warned I may ask some completely silly questions about blogging. I have been blogging at this point a grand total of 56mins or so………

    1. Hello and welcome to the blogging community! I’m pleased to learn you’ve decided to give blogging another go. I believe writing is hard. Period. But it’s finding whatever form of motivation that works for you to succeed. Also, probably not overloading yourself. But that’s neither here nor there! 😃 I sincerely enjoyed your writing/musing/pondering. It spoke to me on a personal level because it was about literature, in a way, and philosophical. I hope you continue to share you’re methods. Best of luck and cheers! 💫

    1. I’m so very new to this so any suggestion would be great! I’m trying to incorporate what I’m learning in the Uni to other people. It’s been a learning experience but I”m enjoying these!

    2. Really nice page and love the post, super interesting. Only thing I would say is the cover picture you have chosen doesn’t look great (on mobile anyway) as the whole image isnnt better. That would be great in the main body and would help break up the text a little. Feature image is better being simple and landscape (from my experience). Hope that helps 😁

I write for everyone who struggles with an addiction. I write for myself because every day is still a struggle from my addiction. I write because if I can touch the lives of any one person, I’ve done something great. I write because I am passionate about helping people. I can’t afford to go to college to be a drug counselor, but I can afford to share my experience. ♥

    2. Blog looks great and the style itself is really nice. Only comment would be the just have a short excert of each post and clicking to view more. Makes it easier to find the different posts you have written.
Look forward to seeing what you do next 😁
