Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Hi fellow bloggers! I’ve been dabbling in writing motivational content for quite some time, but today is the first of many posts that I’ve promised myself I’ll post on schedule. So, as a practice in self improvement I’ll give my best to both write and post every week. Here is the link: http://howtoaddict.com/time-beastmode-creating-yourself/
If you are interested in my previous motivational writing, look under “everydayinspiration” tag: http://howtoaddict.com/tag/everydayinspiration/
Looking forward to your comments and feedback… and keeping my fingers crossed I’ll manage to both write and post one piece every week as I promised myself.

They say we are the sum of the choices we make, even the tiny seemingly insignificant ones throughout the day. You talk of deciding between ‘right’ choices and ‘wrong’ choices but I wasn’t clear how you define these. Interesting nevertheless.
LikeLiked by 11 people
Yeah, I didn’t go into deeper discussion on what the “right” choice is. My post assumes you have choice that you already decided on… for example: you know you should go to gym yet you turn on TV. Or you know you should work on something yet you slack off. I’ll talk more about thinking about choices and picking the right one if future posts.
LikeLike
Yes, I get your point. The choices should be made on the basis of longer term goals, that one has determined will be to the individual’s benefit in terms of money, health, relationships, study etc. I guess.

I really enjoyed the content of your post. My only criticism is that the font is a little small and that can make it look cluttered. Other than that though, an interesting read!

With my first blog I struggled to keep to a steady schedule for content creation and publication. It really comes down to motivation and making sure that you’re doing the most complex tasks earlier in the day to avoid “decision fatigue.” All you do when writing is make choices, the more tired you are the poorer your decision making ability becomes; write earlier in the day if it’s possible – even get up an hour early if that’s what it takes.

I feel the same way. When you are tired you won’t be able to write at your best. Thanks for the tips. Writting earlier in the day do make you feel fresh and hv your mind working well.

Yeah – the problem for me is that I crowded my schedule with lots things. Like, when I wake up I need to decide whether to: a) go to gym b) write c) program
It’s not terribly bad – I still managed to do a lot last few years. And now that I vowed to write and post motivational every week I’m sure I’ll stay on the course. I assume you’ll be here every week – so you’ll be able to tell / correct me 😉
I see you posted “On Writing: Decision Fatigue and the “Flow State” – pretty relevant for this discussion. That 15 minute “warm-up” time is something most people are not aware of… breaking focus is pretty expensive.
Looking forward to our future interactions!

This is an excellent topic (grabbed my attention right away), but the I was hoping for more “meat” to chew on. You tease us brilliantly with several paragraph openers i.e “think before you act.” However, this post would probably stick with me longer (and leave me hungry to return for the next post) if specific strategies, or examples were provided. Again, thanks so much for sharing with us, and good luck creating yourself!

Yeah, the format that I’m doing may leave something to be desired from people who want in-depth discussion. I may eventually write a book for you guys ;).
Until then the only thing that comes to my mind is doing weekly Q&A when there is enough people interested. Like, there are so many great resources already… like this Community Pool is great thing for bloggers… yet it’s not well known. Or for self improvement /r/BettermentBookClub on Reddit is golden. Yes! 😉 As much as I write out of hope that it’ll reach wider audience and help others… I also want to write motivational content for my own benefit. Simply, it helps me to center my mind on things that matter. To arrange my own thoughts.
My hope is that I’ll be able to stick to weekly posting I promised myself and that enough people will be interested so that I can keep going indefinitely.

Hello! That’s actually phenomenal and great for your weekly views! I suppose I simply need to be patient. May I ask more specifically about the tags? Have you discovered a trick to how/what tags to use? And is there a difference between viewing tags other bloggers are using if one views it in comparison to online or the app? Thank you so much for sharing! I wish you luck as your blog continues to grow. And I’m going to have to check out your latest post! 😄
LikeLiked by 2 people
I’m not Kaylee but will leave some thoughts in reply to your question about tags. First off, have you checked https://en.wordpress.com/tags to see what are the current most popular tags?
Secondly, for your own posts, choose tags people are actually going to be searching for. WordPress allows up to fifteen so use as many as you can, pertinent to your post, but don’t waste tags. For example, consider a post tagged My Aunt Sue, My relatives, Sue’s children, Offspring. How many bloggers are going to be searching for those tags?
Third point: pick simple tags. Not “Playing sandlot baseball in Toledo.” Rather use Baseball, Toledo OH, Ohio, Sports, Recreation, Kids.
I hope some of this will help you. All the best with your blog.
LikeLiked by 2 people
I am fairly certain I have checked out that link, but I will again. I have been doing tags that are pertinent to my post; perhaps some days I have better luck than others? I’ve been doing ones like Swimming, Humor, Family, Love, etc based on what is the content. Thank you so much for the reply!

Yeah, this is Internet – so anything is possible ;). Because right now when you land on your page there is that big header image. Us bloggers probably know to scroll down but it’s a question whether general audience knows to do that. So you may want to look into different theme + plugin that would allow you to prominently feature your book. If you need help let me know – when I find time I can look into helping you with that stuff considering I am web developer by day / blogger by night 😉

In fact, I have at least a week (only becuase we had company) worth of clean laundry on the bench at the end of my bed. Hubby of 18+ years has given up hope. Unfortunately, I have 4 children that have picked up my nasty non-cleaning habits. I am sure Adam loves you for you but I bet the charts will help, if not, they look pretty.

Manhood Monday #5: Gratitude Counts
Thought I’d share.
http://wp.me/p876wZ-xm
So the other day I turned on my phone and saw that T-mobile sent me a free pizza, thanking me for being their client. Hey-I was happy. Family dinner was served! The point is, they were showing their gratitude my business (and making a smart marketing pitch).
There’s something about human beings that loves being thanked. I don’t know what it is, but it’s important. We feel good when someone else shows appreciation for an action that we’ve done for them.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the feedback, Volitional. I chose to link it to Manhood because many times we guys don’t verbalize our gratitude. We might feel it and genuinely appreciate what others do for us, but it’s not always one of the emotions that we express clearly. That’s why I’m encouraging men to stop and say “Thank you.” 🙂
Also, I have to say that I love the clear layout of your blog. I’m not into politics very much but I am impressed by how easy to read your blog is. Do you mind telling me what WP template you used?

Anyway, the blog – when people end the post on a question, I’ve noticed that a lot of people just kind of leave it hanging. A question invites readers to engage in a conversation with you. Fortunately, you’re not one of those people – you ask a question, readers are trying to engage with you, and you’re engaging right back. So, part of your writing is in the Comments section after all, and it’s about as warm as your blog theme (which reminds me of a cake for some reason).

Thank you- that’s quite a compliment from a political science major! I’ll take a look at your blog too.

Greetings!! I blog a little bit of everything. It’s a fun mishmash of topics and style. Humorous and Heartfelt. Chilling and Real. I’d love for you to visit and let me know what you think. My latest two blogs: MOMMY CONFESSIONS! Many parents may be able to relate to my summer vacation post! https://theyoncecalledherpumpkin.wordpress.com/2017/06/19/mommy-confessions/
and of course a heartfelt tribute to my dad which includes a story of the struggle I went through when I was an unmarried preachers kid in my early twenties and how he came through for me! https://theyoncecalledherpumpkin.wordpress.com/2017/06/18/papa-dont-preach/
As always appreciate any feedback! It’s been awhile- so I’m off to see what you are all up to this week! 🙂
