To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Nice blog but I wished you used wordpress to create the blog instead of weebly. Size of the readers is huge here and you will be encouraged to write more on wordpress than weebly.
      Good Luck!

    1. Nice post Beth and nice theme you got there! Just two observations.
First there is a text widget under your menu which needs an edit so is your about page.
Rest all looks fine, happy blogging!

Looks like you haven’t given your site a title yet! If you’d like to add one (we recommend it), you can do that by going to My Site > Customize > Site Identity.

    2. In addition to what Michelle said, you also have an text widget which needs an edit. The social icons at the bottom could be linked to your social channels too..

    1. Oh I’m so excited about your blog. I had to wake my sister up to show her your post, I was like SEE IM NOT THE ONLY ONE. Reading is so wonderful, I can’t personally bring myself to use a kindle or read electronically, I have to have an actual book in my hands. I’m a classic book reader and my absolute favourite book is “To Kill a Mockingbird”. Anyway happy blogging and I’m off to read your post about Malala (she is my absolute human icon)💛💛

I noticed that you still have some placeholder text in your blog’s sidebar, over to the right of your posts — you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

    1. Nice post. Love your writing style.
In the first sentence I think you mean inquiring not injuring. Also, personally, the green background is a little distracting for me. May be personal preference as I am a black and white sort of guy 😁
      Keep it up!

    1. Really brilliant post. Followed you to see what you do next 😁
The blog layout is great, just find the black background a grey writing a little harder to read than standard white background and black text. May just be my personal taste though 😀

  1. Hello,
I started my blog just 1 day off a month ago because I got scared of the fact everyone’s going to uni and starting their lives whilst i’m here on a gap year not knowing what I want to do. I thought I love to write and read so why not start a blog and so I got the courage too. I don’t know where this will go but im writing about travel, health and food so if you’re willing to give it a read.
I’d love to hear what people think. Hope you’re having a wonderful day.

    1. Thank you for sharing! As a recent college grad, I can relate to this immensely! I should have taken a gap year. I had a professor tell my class once that all students ought to be required to take at least a year off before attending university. So I can definitely relate. Thanks for sharing! 😃 Happy blogging!

    2. In your post talking about why you should take a gap year, I felt like I could relate sooo much. I too am taking a gap year, and until you say that to a few people you don’t understand how judgemental society can be! The minute I say I’m taking a gap year, people respond like i’m deciding to be some lazy couch bum for the rest of my life haha. Love how open/honest your writing is! Followed(:

    1. Welcome!

The simplest way to get the pubfulllic link is to go to your blog’s homepage and click on the post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that. But the short link works just fine!

Be sure to add your blog’s address to your profile here, too — that way, people will be able to click on your name and go right to your blog. You can update that here: https://wordpress.com/me/public-profile/

    2. Nice blog! Nice theme too! However some observations from my side. First you have a text widget at the footer which needs editing. You could add social widget and link them to your social channels instead of writing them every time on posts. About page also needs an edit. Try to add “Read More” tags for your blogs so that on the home page more posts are shown with little info for each of your posts. It looks very tidy that way.
      Good luck and keep posting!

      1. Ok … Checked it, looks good and you already have couple of posts.. great job..
Now my observations, first the page you linked the about page needs an edit. Also its better to have a contact page also. Also think about providing a “Home” page and link that to your blogs. The posts which are too long, try adding a “Read More” tag, to make it tidy. Hope this helps… Good luck and keep posting!

It is a really good way to tune your ear to the language so you get used to the sounds. I always listen to german music whenever I am doing stuff around the house instead of normal radio. Almost like multi tasking then 👍🏻

  3. Howdy, y’all! If you notice that a comment of yours has been deleted here that’s because, per the guidelines in the post, we remove comments from bloggers who have already been around for a month or more — there are so many brand new folks nervously publishing for the first time each week that we moderate these comments heavily to keep them as focused as possible on the new folks.

We’re excited that you’re excited about your blogs, and we want you to share! So if you’ve been blogging for more than a month, please head over to the Community Pool, where any blogger can give/get feedback on any aspect of blogging: https://wordpress.com/dailypost/category/community-pool/

In fact, I didn’t feel comfortable sharing immediately (as well as not knowing how to share around here until recently.) I’m actually still learning every day. 😀 Thank you for providing a friendly environment for newbies!
