Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. The theme works well and the banner photos are great, but felt a bit let down by “May is not the bad Guy” when it turned out to be a link to an admittedly well-written BBC article. I did like “Haunting Truth” and “Democracy still intact,” though — you’ve got a good mix of content. One thing you could do is include a widget or two, like a “tag cloud” or “recent posts” to give readers other ways to browse your site. Cheers!

  1. Hello Blogging Bears!

All the advice articles tell you how to create a highly successful, badass blog. But what if you are aiming to have a small, marginally successful, faintly, just barely popular blog? What if you just don’t got what it takes to make a super successful blog and you are completely OK with it?!

If you are looking for an equally-lazy-as-you kindred soul, here is a different view on the success of blogging:

    1. It depends on what your goal for the blog. Many people are planning to earn money out of the blog. Very few like you are actually writing for your own satisfaction and fulfilment.

  2. I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out my poem of the week, “Fairies of the Isle.” It’s a fun little whimsical piece full of folklore. I’m of Irish heritage, and this takes a look at some of the mythical creatures said to roam around the enchanted isle. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page, and click the like button on the post page. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

  3. Ah Monday is here again and much like last week, I will likely spend a good chunk of it discovering awesome new bloggers.

Here’s my latest. If there are any dream interpreters out there, have a crack at it:

  4. hey everyone,

For cricket fans it was another dismal day for South Africa in a big tournament but this time i was over it and so i wrote an open letter to the Proteas to demand that they come over to my house when they get home and apologise for not even pitching up:

Open letter to the Proteas cricket team

Quite different style to my usual challenging vibes and hopefully a bit of fun.

  5. Greetings and salutations!
I keep an author blog which I fill (mainly) with writing tips and updates as I work my way towards becoming traditionally published.

My most recent post entails the third part of a short story I’ve been plugging away on. Please stop by, comment, subscribe, like, etc.etc.etc. I return most subs and likes!

    Welcome

    1. You are very brave to write about this. I think you need to call it what it was though… abuse. I’m glad you found your way out and onto a new life. Many people are not so lucky. Drawing from what you’ve learned and the pain you endured is always good food for writing-very relatable for many people. Nice work!

  6. Are your poetry and/or photography pieces not getting the attention they deserve? There’s a few pitfalls when posting in these categories. I explore them, and offer some advice to overcome them in “The Pitfalls of Poetry & Photography” with a more detailed explanation coming soon. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page, and click the like button on the post page. 7. Hey guys! I’m trying to figure out better ways to network with other bloggers on WordPress and other platforms. I was wondering what are some ways that helped you guys connect and work with other bloggers on things like collabs and guest posts. I’m also wondering what are other ways I can promote my blog besides my social media pages as I would like tor each a larger audience than my friends and family.
I also started an art page to feature not only mine, but others art (with credit given) so I also was wondering how I should approach other artists appropriately and professionally. Any and all feedback is appreciated !
check out my blog at bricruzblog.wordpress.com and let me know if you’d like me to check out yours as well!
    Thanks guys,
    xo Bri.

    1. I think your blog is very open and honest. I also love your layout. As far approaching artists, I think just introducing yourself is a good start. Start by building a relationship-I’m sure they would love to have the exposure. I think they would be flattered that you would want to feature them.
