Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hi everyone! Have you ever had just “one of those days”? I had one of them last week and wrote about it in my newest Everyday Nostalgia post. I’d love for you to check it out: https://nostalgiadiaries.com/2017/06/11/week-23-the-sun-will-come-out-tomorrow-everyday-nostalgia/

We also have our newest Music Monday post up, which is a guest blogger’s post about 6 songs that remind her of her middle school years: https://nostalgiadiaries.com/2017/06/12/6-songs-that-take-me-back-to-my-middle-school-years-moonlight-sweetness/

Excited to check out what’s new with all of you!

    1. I can totally understand your position about not having time to read other’s blogs or time to comment, but my experience tells me that such “networking” is what gets others to check out your blog. The key is to visit a few (v. “a ton”) that truly have some element of appeal to you–that helps keep it truly beneficial for you (you’re enjoying/learning, etc regardless of whether you get new followers/readers). As you leave quality comments, other readers of that other blog–along with the blogger themselves–will be curious to know more about you (who is this witty/salient/funny, etc person?) and are likely to visit your site. Blog rolls are proving to be beneficial as well; I do believe I’ve picked up at least some looks if not followers because other people had me on their blog roll. So if you don’t have a blog roll showing who you are following, you should do so. Why? Well, as the old saying goes: what goes around, comes around!

      1. I think this is excellent advice.
I quite like reading other people’s blogs and insights into their worlds. I don’t think I’d have anyone reading my ramblings if I wasn’t returning the favour and reading blogs from the lovely folks that I follow.

    2. Yeah, like Raylene said, networking is key. If you’re an up and coming blogger, especially one with a specific niche, then you gotta put in the time and effort to get new readers. Setting aside time, even like 15 mins a day, can help. Good luck!

  2. Good morning and happy Monday everyone! I am hoping you might have time to take a look over my blog and comment on anything you like and or give feedback! It has been live for three months today and I have worked very hard, but the traffic is slow and my bounce rate is high! I would love some fresh sets of eyes to help see anything I am missing! Thank you all so much! 🙂 http://www.celebratingwiththebug.com/

    1. You are really talented in baking and crafts. It’s a great blog but it took time to find out your posts on your site. May be because of the theme you have chosen. Do interact with others. Like ,comment on the posts of others. Best wishes for future and don’t worry…it takes time. Keep smiling and keep writing…

    2. Your blog looks beautiful! You have such detailed and irresistible looking recipes, I especially found the Beast Cupcakes to be both cute and absolutely delicious looking at the same time 🙂
I think you could change your widgets so that the like, comment and follow buttons are easily accessible to your visitors.
      Happy blogging!

    1. I really liked this! I’m not a parent yet however, I am someone who cares a great deal about the world and the state of our government right now hurts my heart. I’ve always held strong views regarding most things, I’ve always had a mind of my own, ever since I was tiny. I tend to feel when my voice isn’t being heard, which at the moment I don’t feel like anyone’s is in the UK, I speak up a little louder. Currently living my life by the terms;
“Speak your mind, even if your voice shakes” ✊🏼

    1. Yoga is the only thing that I’ve been doing consistently albeit on and off over all these years. Although I’m not as flexible as I’d like to be I think it definitely makes a mental difference

    1. This is beautifully written. I too had a very close relationship with my Granny, her passing was very hard on me. I think the last place I would expect to meet someone who reminds me of her though would be at a gym! Life can be surprising in so many ways.

  3. Hello bloggers!
Here is my new post ‘just imagine’ which needs your views and opinions. It’s about a recent experience of mine. Check out if you can imagine yourself in a similar situation and if so, what would you have done..

    Thanks you!

    1. This is such a real experience. Sometimes it is hard for others to be happy about our success when they wanted it to be their success. Life is hard and everyone wants to be the winner. Give your friends some time to get used to their not winning and I’m sure they’ll come around to praising your success.

    2. you cant control how others think or do, so don’t let them spoil your joy. be proud of yourself for what you have achieved, and friends will come round when they wake up to reality.

  4. Hi all! I’ve been away from the Pool for awhile. My latest post is about fireworks, and some appropriate music by the composer Handel. I take my own photographs and find a musical match for them-something that fits the mood, season, or weather of the photo. I also decided to make a few temporary decisions regarding the status of my blog, but for a good reason. Let me know what you think!

    1. Hey! I looked over your website and it looks very professional. I like the use of changing photos for the main banner also. If I could give any criticism it would be the text in your banner photo.
From the layout I assumed it was a menu rather than a summary of your topics, never underestimate the stupidity of the public 😉
If you wanted to change it maybe keep the ‘Ich Bin Dacian’ top title and change the bottom to something like ‘reviewer, writer and blogger’ but that’s just my opinion.
      😊

    2. its very clean and slick.
My only tiny comment would be about the use of the posted by button. Unless you have guest bloggers, I can never understand the point of that as all the posts will be by you. Personally i like to keep the screen clear of things that doesnt add much info so readers can focus on my post.

    1. I’d post about everything and anything that takes your fancy! Surely it’s best to write about what you enjoy so it’ll be fun to write as well as fun to read.

I looked and the food posts and the doodle post and liked both. 😀
