Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  2. Hi everyone!

I’m currently on a road trip across the United States, with no plans concerning where I’m going. This post is about my stop in Colorado. Any comments are appreciated! 🙂

    1. I think your more recent post on privilege is a more interesting read than your previous post as you pose questions and offer alternative explanations for the reader to think about whereas the first post simply made observations.

My advice would be to keep at it and to double check your spelling before hitting submit. 🙂

  3. Hey guys, I’ve been blogging for a month and really need some feedback from you experts and also fresh eyes on what the blog looks like. Please please help me out! Thanks 🤗

    1. I like the overall look of your blog. However, I think there are a few issues with consistency. For instance, the fashion page shouldn’t be a category as none of the other pages have different categories within them, so it looks a little weird to just have one. Also, at the top of the page it has PINK KROWN with a space but everywhere else it doesn’t have a space and the capitalization for the titles of your posts is inconsistent as well. Easy changes if you want to change them, though. 🙂
As far as your posts, I love how excited you sound in your writing. Your voice is very engaging.

    1. In the future, try to include a link through which the community can access the post that you’re trying to have read. Us bloggers are lazy!

    1. I liked your post on nail stamping.
One thing I would recommend is not including the full url for your links. Instead, you can just say, “I used x for this thing” and make that text a hyperlink. All you have to do in the rich text editor is highlight the text, click the link button, and paste the url. Then you can select if you want the link to open in a new tab.

    1. Hey Ashy, your blog looks cool. Really love the colors you’ve got going on there!

Anywho, just a quick feedback. It might just be me but your “About” page feels incomplete. Perhaps you can update it by telling us a little more on what your blog is about?

Remember, “About” page is one of the most crucial pages in a blog as it gives people the idea on what you and your site is all about. It might even be the one that help leave a deep impression amongst first time visitors, which could result in recurrent visits 🙂

That aside, I saw your articles as well, very nicely put together especially with the use of images. Well done. Keep it up 😉

How are you finding the blogging experience so far, btw?

      1. First of all, thanks a lot.
And secondly, yes, I too feel that about page is incomplete. Actually I’m not getting what to put on there, so that’s just hanging around. But well when you’ve said this, I’ll surely look on it.
I’m finding the blogging experience quite interesting. Even though it’s quite tough at the beginning, but I’m sure it’ll get more interesting, day-by-day.

And thanks once again, for your valuable suggestions and review! 😉

      2. Ah okay. It’s important to have a clear idea on what you’d like to blog about otherwise, if you aren’t sure what you are doing, everyone else would be too XD

Indeed it will. But you’ve got to know that your experience would be determined by your purpose as well. What’s your purpose for getting into blogging in the first place?

To make money? To make friends? To have an outlet for ranting and etc? Gotta pin-point it down so that you can start moving towards something concrete rather than going around in circles and feel like you’ve accomplished nothing at the end of the day- This kills the experience!

Instead, if you have a purpose, you work towards it and see some results, you’d feel like it’s all worthwhile and not for nothing.

When that happens, it will be interesting for sure!

Not a problem! Glad to have been of assist! If I can help you bring your blog up into something that can help make your life better, why not eh?
After all, your blog could change the lives of others too 😉

If you’ve got other questions or things to say, do feel free to share!

Also, I’d really appreciate it if you can check out my blog and give me some feedbacks too. I’m actually seeking feedbacks right now as I’m looking to make some changes.

Hope to hear from you Ashy 🙂

  6. I would love some feedback regarding my blog. I posted my first post, but I want my blog to be deeper than my first post and I would like to reach people, to actually have people understand me and my writing. Could anyone recommend ways of reaching more followers? It’s always been my dream to write books, but I know there’s a lot of things I need to work on. I would love to be critiqued and to push my own boundaries as an aspiring writer as well.

    1. Hey Taylor,

Left you a comment already on your post. First, congrats on your first blog post 🙂

Your blog looks good and the cleanliness will help improve visitor’s experience as they are easy on the eyes.

I noticed a few things which you should look into as a new blogger.

First, the about page. You need to get one up asap because it’s usually the first page new visitors go to for a feel of who you and your site is all about! That could help appeal to an audience that you are looking to target for your blog and also, give your readers a better idea on what to expect on your site. Awesome.

The other thing I noticed that should be changed is the “Text Widget”. Remove or edit it immediately because it makes your site look incomplete. It might turn some people off.

Besides, if you change the widget thing, it’ll make your site look cleaner 😉

Nothing much I can add on for now. Your site actually looks pretty good so kudos to you for that. You might want to consider using images as well for your articles to help with readers’ immersion experience.

Hope this helped! If you’ve got questions, do feel free to ask!

      1. Thanks Benjamin, I appreciate your feedback and your suggestions are very helpful! I definitely need to access a computer to touch up my blog a bit. Where would you suggest finding images for my blog posts? I never can find anything that isn’t copyrighted.

    2. Great start for a blog. Love the way that you convey your post in your peculiar way. Little footnotes, your about page is empty, you may want to add something in it by pressing the edit button in your about page, and there is a text widget at the top right of your blog, you can change it by pressing the customise button in your page. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!

  7. Hello everyone,
My problem: I don’t want to have a blog. My page has just one purpose: providing a map of all street art in Granada (via Google my maps).

I have just started with WordPress and with the page:

    granadagraffiti.wordpress.com

I would like to hear your opinion about my page: is WordPress.com the right place for a NOT-blog? How can I ensure people searching for “Granada graffiti” can find me? How to make my site more reader-friendly?

    1. Wow… What a dedication for street arts. Love to see that they are still people protecting this kind of art. Loving the way that you portray your posts, and the vogue that you have in you. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!

    1. I like the overall look of your site. Some of your sentences are lengthy and difficult to read. Your second paragraph is one sentence. Here’s an attemtpt to break it apart into smaller chunks. ” The trend started with an under-pressure Pakistan comfortably getting over the ever-choking South Africans. It was a nerveless display of bowling and fielding, which has been their undoing in the past. This continued with the underdogs, Sri Lanka, pushing off the high-flying (read: performance) Team India off the perch to make the qualification scenario interesting. Next, the ever-rising perennial fighters, Bangladesh, knocked the epitome-of-never-back-down side, New Zealand, out of the Champions Trophy to raise hopes of their semi-final qualification. This was sustained by the new upset-causers in world cricket, Afghanistan, beating the immensely-talented-yet-highly-inconsistent West Indies at home in the first match of their ODI series.” https://gracelead.co

    1. Hey bud so I just went through your blog and I have to say, I like your content a lot. Especially the ones that deals with the human psychology- Likely cause I study psychology! XD

Anywho, my first impression though, I will be honest with you, I was confused lol.

I went in, read your angel story, (Which is nicely written btw) and started looking for your about page to get to know you better. When I clicked onto reveal your blog’s menu, I was overwhelmed.

It was jam packed with different topics and they were not organized! Somewhere in my mind, a voice told me to just stop here because the mess really turned me off.

However, I decided to give it a chance and started looking around. Glad I did. The articles you have, which I’ve read, are really good! This pains my heart cause it made me recall my initial experience in your blog- I wanted to leave before checking things out further! Not a good sign!

My suggestion to rectify this issue:
      1. Add “About” page to lessen the confusion on what to expect on your blog
      – Note that the “About” page is usually the first page visitors would click to learn more about who they are “Listening” to.

      2. Organize your menu better (The= Home | About | Blog | Contact- section)

Now, it’s clear that you’ve been blogging for awhile and the amount of effort invested in your blog to look the way it does is truly commendable! Don’t think I don’t see it. The GIFs, the arrangement of pages with the linked images to articles- Kudos to you for all that. Seriously. I want you to have more visitors lol!

However you gotta know, at the end of the day, I still have no idea what exactly you are trying to achieve with your blog. I see bits and pieces of everything and it is still confusing me lol. I’m guessing it’s a personal blog for ranting and sharing of your personal thoughts?

If you can, I recommend you try to narrow things down. Trying to create content for many different categories can overwhelm not just you but your readers as well. Not good.

Btw, I don’t know if it’s me but I feel that your blog’s theme and color scheme don’t really fit your personality and style. How do you feel about the current set up?

Anywho, that is all from me for now, hope it helped! If you’ve got questions, do feel free to ask! If you’ve got anything you’d like to say or share with me, please do so 🙂

And also I will be happy to hear about your opinions regarding my story. Happy reading #dreamdaily #stayalive

    1. Impressive… Interesting… Loving the way that you pen down your thoughts and expressions into a write-up. A little suggestion, for longer stories you could break it into pieces and string them up into a series, that would be nice. A little footnote, there is still the text widget at the top right of your blog, you could change it by pressing the customise button in your page. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!
