Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

      1. Thank you for reading!
Forby means uncommon…rarely used though. I’ll try substituting another word in place. Same goes with reysed. Less reysed means less travelled!

    1. Sounds like an interesting topic. Heading over to check it out now 🙂

As for the design, I dig the colors but I can’t help wonder if reading would be easier on the eyes if the bg were white.

    1. Great post! Your topic is very relatable to other women and an important message for us all. I liked the way you incorporated varying graphics, texts, and alignments to keep the post interesting and aesthetically pleasing. There is one spot at the top where the graphic and text run together a bit. Otherwise, very good!

      1. Thank you so much! I’m so used to writing and editing on my mobile phone that I didn’t even realise. Thanks for your lovely feedback also ❤️

    2. Wonderful post, I loved the topic and left a comment. I also really love how you laid out the post, with larger quotes and photos in between. It made for an easy as well as visually interesting read.

    1. Titles are tough. It depends on what you’re wanting to achieve. If it’s more people to read the blog, I use Google Analytics to find some keywords to help people looking for what I’m writing about find my site. I also try to keep the title and first paragraph interesting, to hook people in. I hope that helps. (Also left a comment on your post – Glad you figured out what really happened that day.)

    1. I loved your introducing Ashley bit at the start! “I would be lying if I said I’m sure of where I’m going, I’m not. But I’m okay with that”. I don’t know you and you don’t know me but you have no idea how much I needed that today! Happy blogging, you’re doing great x

  6. Hi guys, I’m a 3-month-old blogger and I just started a new segment in my blog where I talk about bands/music I love.
I was wondering if you guys have any tips on writing these kinds of reviews! 😀
Also any comments on my blog itself and the lay out are super welcome❤️

    1. Just read your blog and I saw both posts and I have to say the content is great! It has a lot of potential and I love your writing style!
The only thing that bothered me a bit was the all-black background and the small, hard to read font.
Other than that it’s great and I’m definitely curious about your upcoming post!
(Also noticed your blog’s theme is the exact same theme as mine, haha :D)
PS: I’m definitely not an expert on blogs, I just started two months ago, too. So I don’t know if my advice is that useful, lol.

    2. Hey, I hope you are enjoying blogging. I just checked out your blog. Just a little bit of advice – you might want to edit the “About” page. Write a bit about yourself, why you started blogging, etc. And that’s a great post. The last paragraph was what I liked the most. Excellent advice.

  7. Happy Monday, everyone!

I had a great weekend as far as my blog is concerned – I just published my 100th blog post! My blog mostly contains flash fiction (short stories, tiny tales, six-word stories, poems among other random posts)

Here’s a link to my latest short story – It’s a very unusual fairy tale.

short story #3: Not a run-of-the-mill fairy tale!

Here’s a link to my latest six-word story

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance. 🙂
